Our prediction for this Europa League match:
All eyes will be on Commerzbank Arena when Eintracht Frankfurt and Shakhtar Donetsk face each other in the Europa League last 32, return leg. The two teams played out a 2-2 draw in Ukraine, but it has to be noted that Shakhtar played with ten men from the 11th minute of the match. Defensive midfielder Stepanenko misses the return leg through suspension, but the Ukrainians will surely adopt an attack-minded approach in Thursday’s football match. A man to watch in the away team will be Brazil international Taison, who found the net in the first leg. Die Adler, on the other hand, have been scoring goals for fun in all competitions this season and thanks to the 2-2 draw with Shakhtar in Donetsk they moved one step closer to booking their place in the Europa League last 16. Seeing that Eintracht are tough to beat at home, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw.
Highlighted Player (Marco Fabian):
Marco Fabian is a 26-year-old midfielder who plays for German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. This attacking midfielder has started his youth career at Guadalajara before making his senior professional debut with the Mexican club in 2007. Over eight seasons with them, Fabian became a regular and scored more than 50 goals for them.
He moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in late 2015. Fabian represented Mexico across various youth levels before finally graduating to the senior team. He earned his first senior cap in 2012 and played his first major tournament with the senior team at the 2013 Gold Cup.
He was one of the revelations for Mexico in that tournament with three goals and equal number of assists. Fabian has 25 national caps to his name and six goals to his credit so far. Often regarded for his pace and great long range shots, Fabian has a 2014 FIFA Puskas Award nomination to his credit.
Highlighted Team (Shakhtar Donetsk):
Despite the fact that they were founded back in 1936, Shakhtar Donetsk were struggling to win the Ukrainian Premier League trophy until 2002. The Miners have established themselves as the dominant force in Ukrainian football and it has to be noted that they won their ninth domestic trophy in 2014.
Shakhtar Donetsk were playing at Donbass Arena in the past, but due to war in Donbass the club temporarily moved to Arena Lviv. In 2009 the Miners won the UEFA Cup trophy under Romanian boss Mircea Lucescu, beating Werder Bremen in the title game. Croatian full back Dario Srna was named the man of the match. Dynamo Kiev are considered Shakhtar Donetsk’s main rivals and there have always been fireworks in meetings between the two sides.
Shakhtar have a rivalry with Metalurh Donetsk as well and the two local rivals face each other in the Donetsk Derby. Chelsea ace Willian, Manchester United star Mkhitaryan and Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho all played for Shakhtar in the past.
