Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Eintracht Frankfurt and Salzburg, the clubs from the two neighbouring countries, face each other at Commerzbank-Arena in what is expected to be an exciting showdown. Die Adler made a slow start to their Bundesliga campaign, but they have been producing excellent showings in the German top flight of late. Eintracht Frankfurt did well to crush Augsburg 5-0 in their last home game in the national championship, which is certainly giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Salzburg.
A man to watch in the home team will be pacey Serbia international Filip Kostic, who has been in a thrilling form in 2020. The Austrians, on the other hand, will be without key attacker Erling Haland in Thursday’s football match as the Norway rising star joined Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window. Seeing that Eintracht are a real force to be reckoned with at home, the Red Bulls are unlikely to grab something from the first leg.
Highlighted Player (Timothy Chandler):
Timothy Chandler is a professional footballer, who started his senior career at Eintracht Frankfurt reserve team. In 2010 he signed for Nurnberg and he made 17 appearances for the reserve team. After playing 95 league games for Nurnberg he returned to Eintracht Frankfurt on 3 June, 2014, signing a three-year contract with his former club.
Chandler was born in Frankfurt on 29 March, 1990, but seeing that his father is American, the defender decided to play for the USA national football team. Chandler made his USA debut on March, 2011, coming as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Argentina.
The Freiburg defender made USA 2014 World Cup squad, but he did not play for the Yanks at the showpiece tournament in Brazil. It has to be noted that Chandler made 10 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign. His main position is right back, but he is capable of playing as a right midfielder and a right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Salzburg):
Salzburg are a professional football club that compete in Austrian Bundesliga. The club’s main sponsors are Red Bull and, as a result, they are well known under the name of the Red Bulls. The club was founded on 13 September, 1933 and they won their first Austrian Bundesliga trophy in 1994.
Salzburg quickly established themselves as the dominant force in the national championship and they are the most successful Austrian club in the 21st century. It has to be noted that they won their tenth Austrian Premier League trophy in 2016, finishing the season nine points clear of second-placed Rapid Wien.
The Red Bulls welcome their rivals at Red Bull Arena, the stadium that was opened on 8 March, 2008. The capacity of the venue is 31 895. Salzburg participated in the 1993/1994 UEFA Cup final, but Italian side proved to be a big catch for the Austrian outfit. Inter recorded a 2-0 win over Salzburg in the final (on aggregate).
