Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Mainz and Anderlecht face each other at OPEL ARENA in what is expected to be one of the most interesting matches of Thursday’s program. Die Nullfunfer came from behind to beat Qabala in their second group game and they will be looking to climb to top position in Group C with a victory over Anderlecht. Mainz head into Thursday’s football match following a 2-1 win over Darmstadt and, no doubt, the hosts are high on confidence ahead of the visit of Anderlecht. Rene Weiler’s team were more than fortunate to beat ten-man Lokeren at the weekend and considering that the Belgian side are not regarded as good travelers, we predict that Mainz are going to extend their winning run in the Europa League. You should bear in mind that the two teams have never met before in European competitions. Pablo de Blasis has been in a fine form this season, meaning that the opposition defenders should have him at bay.
Highlighted Player (Giulio Donati):
Giulio Donati was born in Pietrasanta, the Province of Lucca and he started his career at his home-town club Lucchese. In 2008 Inter scouts spotted him and he joined the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit in July. He played for the Inter U20 team, but he did not make his Inter debut in Serie A.
After ending his loan spells with the likes of Lecce, Padova and Grosetto the Italian defender joined Bayer Leverkusen on 21 June, 2013, for a fee of €3 million. He made 23 league appearances for Bayer in the 2013/2014 Bundesliga campaign, but he played just 8 league matches for the club in the 2014/2015 season.
Speaking of his international career, Donati played three games for Italy U20 and he has 26 caps for the U21 team. On 25 January, 2016 he signed a contract with Mainz, which expires in 2019. Donati is a right back, but he is capable of playing as a left back and a right midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Anderlecht):
Founded on 27 May, 1908, Anderlecht are considered one of the oldest clubs in Belgium. The Paars-wit are the dominant force in the Belgian Pro League and in 2014 they won their 33rd domestic trophy. Anderlecht did remarkably well to win the UEFA Super Cup title in 1983, with the team defeating Benfica in the final of the competition.
The Belgian outfit recorded a 1-0 over the Eagles in the first leg, with the two teams playing out a 1-1 draw in the return leg. Anderlecht play their home games at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, the venue that was opened in 1917. The stadium was renovated in 1983 and current capacity of Anderlecht’s home ground is 28 063.
The Paars-wit have long-standing rivalries with the likes of Standard Liege and Club Brugge, whilst FC Brussels were considered the club’s bitter opponents in the past. The likes of Besnik Hasi, Lucas Biglia, Filip De Wilde and Romelu Lukaku are some of Anderlecht’s notable players.
