Our match prediction:
Over the years Hajduk Split have been trying to put an end to Dinamo Zagreb’s dominance in Croatian football. The Stadion Poljud outfit, though, failed to win the domestic trophy last season and, as a result, they take part in the Europa League qualifiers. By beating Oleksandria in the two-legged tie Hajduk set up a meeting with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League play-off, but they were beaten by the Israeli team in the first leg at Winner Stadium (1-2). The Croats now need to overcome the deficit if they are to book their place in the group stages of the European competition, but Thursday’s football game against Maccabi will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. Hajduk head into the match following a heavy 4-2 loss to Rijeka and they are unlikely to upset the Israeli outfit in the second leg at Stadion Poljud.
