Our football match prediction:
Hoffenheim were not capable of matching Liverpool in the Champions League play-offs and they continue to struggle in the group stages of the Europa League. Following a 2-1 home loss to Sporting Braga, the Bundesliga side suffered a defeat to Ludogorets in Razgrad as well and, no doubt, this has to go down as a must-win match for hosts. Hoffenheim take on Istanbul Basaksehir at their WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena and we predict that the Germans are going to leave their hearts on the field in Thursday’s football match. The Turkish side aim to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Sporting Braga and they are likely to go for a win a well. A high-scoring affair is on the cards, but the hosts are closer to picking up all three points from the game than the visitors. A man to watch in the home team will be Andrej Kramaric, who helped Croatia book their place in the World Cup play-offs.
Highligted Player (Oliver Baumann):
Oliver Baumann is a German goalkeeper who was born on 2 June, 1990 in Breisach. The 187-cm-tall shoot-stopper began his youth career at FC Bad Krozingen and in 2002 he joined Freiburg youth school. He started playing for Freiburg II at senior level and he made 22 appearances for the team in the 2009/2010 season. After making 131 appearances for the first team, he signed a four-year deal with Hoffenheim on 14 May, 2014. Oliver Baumann played for Germany U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams and it has to be noted that he has 10 caps for the U21 team. However, he has yet to represent the senior team on the international stage. It has to be noted that Baumann made 33 league appearances for Hoffenheim in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign, conceding 50 goals in the process. The German goalkeeper managed to keep six clean sheets in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign. He has a contract with die Kraichgauer which expires on 30 June, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Basaksehir):
Istanbul Basaksehir are one of the youngest clubs in Turkey. Founded in 1990, Istanbul Basaksehir play their home games at Fatih Terim Stadium, the venue that was opened in 2014. The Turkish club club have yet to win the national championship, but they did well to finish the 2016/2017 Super Lig campaign in second place in the standings. As a result, Istanbul Basaksehir booked their place in the Champions League qualifiers and thanks to a win over Club Brugge in the two-legged tie the capital club set up a meeting with La Liga side Sevilla in the play-offs. Despite producing fine performances in the double-header against the star-studded Spanish side Istanbul Basaksehir eventually failed to make it to the Champions League group stages. Nonetheless, the club will represent Turkey in the group stages of the Europa League in the 2017/2018 season. It has to be noted that the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Eljero Elia, Emre Belozoglu and Gael Clichy played for Istanbul Basaksehir in the 2017/2018 Champions League qualifiers.
