Our football match prediction:
Lokomotiv Moscow will be aiming to bounce back from a shocking 2-1 loss to Sheriff when they welcome Copenhagen at their RZD Arena. The Russian side aim to regain top position in Group F, but Thursday’s football match against the Danish champions will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. Lokomotiv Moscow are leading the chase for the domestic trophy, but they have big ambitions for the 2017/2018 Europa League campaign as well and we predict that they will fight tooth and nail against Copenhagen. The Danes recorded a routine win over Zlin in front of home fans in their last group game, but seeing that they often struggle on the travels, we are not tempted to put our money on Stale Solbakken’s troops this time out. Under 1.5 goals were scored in each of their previous two meetings in the Europa League and yet another low-scoring affair is on the cards.
Highlighted Player (Solomon Kvirkvelia):
Solomon Kvirkvelia is a Georgia international who plays for Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow as a centre-back. Kvirkvelia started his career at the youth team of Zenit Saint Petersburg and in 2010 he moved to Rubin Kazan. The 196-cm tall defender played for Rubin Kazan from 2011 to 2017 and then he joined fellow Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow. Solomon Kvirvelia made his Lokomotiv Moscow debut on March 5, 2017 in a 3-0 loss to Krylya Sovetov and he scored his first ever goal for the capital club on July 18, 2017 in a 1-0 victory over Arsenal Tula. The Lokomotiv Moscow centre back made his Moldova debut on March 5, 2014 in a friendly game against Liechtenstein. Speaking of his honours, it has to be noted that he won two Russian Cup titles with Rubin Kazan and Lokomotiv Moscow respectively. His main position is centre back, but he is used as a right-back as well. Kvirkvelia’s contract with Lokomotiv Moscow should expire on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (FC Copenhagen):
The most successful club in the history of Danish football F.C. Kopenhagen was founded in 1992, through the merger of 15-time Danish champions Kjobenhavns Boldklub and seven-time champions of Denmark Boldklubben 1903. Football Club Copenhagen play their matches at the Telia Parken, a venue that can host 38,000 spectators. The Team of the City as Copenhagen is called in Denmark has won the Danish football championship eleven times, while it has also won the Danish Cup on seven occasions. The club forms great rivalry with Copenhagen’s suburban club Brondby IF with games between the two club attracting some of the biggest crowds in Danish football history in this so called New Firm derby. Through its history F.C. Copenhagen have participated in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League, while their major European accomplishments have been achieved in the Royal League, with the Danish powerhouse winning two titles and coming as runners-up on one occasion.
