Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Oleksandria and Saint-Etienne, the two teams who have yet to record a win in the Europa League this season, face each other at Arena L’viv on Thursday evening. Oleksandria did well to hold Saint-Etienne to a draw in France, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the reverse fixture. The Ukrainians played out a 1-1 draw with Gent in their first home game of the process, which is yet another reason why we predict that they are going to grab something from Thursday’s clash.
Les Verts have been struggling to find their best form in the first half of the season, and we do not believe that they are capable of beating Oleksandria in L’viv. A close encounter is on the cards, meaning that punters should find value in betting on draw. You should bear in mind that under 2.5 goals have been netted in three of Saint-Etienne’s last three Europa League games.
Highlighted Player (Yevhen Banada):
Yevhen Banada is a professional footballer who plays for Ukrainian side Oleksandriya. Banada was born in Nikopol, Ukraine on February 29, 1992, joining UFK Dnipropetrovsk at the age of 13. The 182-cm tall midfielder played for the likes of UOR Donetsk and Olimpik Donetsk during his youth career as well, but he made his senior debut with Oleksandriya.
Yevhen Banada joined Oleksandriya in 2011 and he has been playing for the Ukrainian Premier League side ever since. Banada will have a chance to prove his worth in the Europa League as the Mistiany will represent Ukraine in the European competition.
His main position is defensive midfield, but he is capable of playing as both central midfielder and centre-back as well. The Oleksandriya footballer, whose preferred foot is right, has yet to make his debut with the Ukraine national team, but he has two caps with Ukraine U21 team.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century.
Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
