Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Wolfsburg will be looking to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Gent when they take on Oleksandria at Arena L’viv on Thursday evening. Despite suffering the heartbreaking defeat to the Belgian outfit, the Wolves remained in the top two in Group I. Oliver Glasner’s troops have been struggling to find their best form of late, but the game against Oleksandria could be the turning point for the Germans.
Since Oliver Glasner is likely to field the best possible side against the Ukrainian outfit, away win should be considered. The Ukrainians have yet to record a win in the group stages of the Europa League this term and seeing that they were beaten by Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena in their opener, we are tempted to put our money on the Bundesliga side. As always, Dutch attacker Wout Weghorst will lead the line for the Wolves.
Highlighted Player (Yevhen Banada):
Yevhen Banada is a professional footballer who plays for Ukrainian side Oleksandriya. Banada was born in Nikopol, Ukraine on February 29, 1992, joining UFK Dnipropetrovsk at the age of 13. The 182-cm tall midfielder played for the likes of UOR Donetsk and Olimpik Donetsk during his youth career as well, but he made his senior debut with Oleksandriya.
Yevhen Banada joined Oleksandriya in 2011 and he has been playing for the Ukrainian Premier League side ever since. Banada will have a chance to prove his worth in the Europa League as the Mistiany will represent Ukraine in the European competition.
His main position is defensive midfield, but he is capable of playing as both central midfielder and centre-back as well. The Oleksandriya footballer, whose preferred foot is right, has yet to make his debut with the Ukraine national team, but he has two caps with Ukraine U21 team.
Highlighted Team (Wolfsburg):
Wolfsburg are a German football club founded in the aftermath of the World War II (1945). Die Wolfe (The Wolves) wear green and white shirts and they play their home games at Volkswagen Arena. The capacity of the stadium is 30,000 and it was opened on 13 December, 2002.
It is well known that German car manufacturer Volkswagen are the club’s main sponsors. Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga trophy in 2009 and the likes of Edin Dzeko, Grafite and Zvjezdan Misimovic were part of the club’s golden generation.
You should bear in mind that Grafite and Dzeko scored 54 goals between each other in the 2008/2009 Bundesliga campaign and that the team clinched the trophy thanks to a 5-1 win over Werder Bremen on 23 May, 2009. Die Wolfe won the German Cup trophy in 2015, with the team beating star-studded Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the title game. Wolfsburg are a team that has no bitter rivals in German football.
