Our football match prediction:
All eyes will be on Parc Olympique Lyonnais when Lyon and Roma take on each other in the Europa League last 16 in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Thursday’s program. Les Gones outclassed AZ in previous round, but the game against the Giallorossi will be anything but a walk in the park for the Ligue 1 team. However, seeing that Lyon are tough to beat at home, we predict that they will grab something from Thursday’s football match against Luciano Spalletti’s troops. Following four consecutive wins the Romans suffered a 2-1 loss to Napoli in their last league fixture and, no doubt, they are eager to bounce back from the defeat. Considering that the first leg will be hosted by Parc Olympique Lyonnais, share of spoils appears on the cards. You should bear in mind that it has been ten years since the two teams last met in a competitive match.
Highlighted Player (Rafael):
Best known for his role at Manchester United when football world got to know him and his twin brother first hand, Rafael Pereira da Silva is a Brazilian football operating mainly at right-back, but can also fill in on the right side of the midfield. Fabio began his career with Fluminense before jining Manchester United in 2007. He spent eight years competing in the Premier League before he moved to Lyon in 2015. Prior to his move to France, Rafael spent one season playing for Queens Park Rangers in a campaign which turned out to be a disastrous one for the Brazilian. Still fresh and with plenty of football in front of him at the age of 26, Rafael was given plenty of freedom at Lyon and a license to play his natural game. Signed on a four-year deal, Rafael has gone to become an imposing figure at his new club managing 27 appearances with one goal in a Lyon shirt across competitions.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma are a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football. The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. “The Prince of Rome” made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
