Our prediction for this Europa League match:
After suffering a shocking 3-2 loss to Linfield at Windsor Park in the first leg of the Europa League, Qarabag will be looking to overcome the deficit when they host the Northern Ireland champions at their Tofiq Behramov adina Respublika stadionu on Thursday evening. The Azeri undisputedly produce much better showings on home soil than on the travels and they are seen as hot favourites to win the return leg and book their place in the Europa League group stages.
Qarabag failed to turn their dominance into more goals in the 3-2 loss to Linfield and seeing that they had 23 goal attemptes in the Windsor Park clash, home win should be considered this time out. Taking everything into account, we do not believe that the Blues are capable of claiming yet another major scalp in the Europa League qualifiers.
Highlighted Player (Wilde-Donald Guerrier):
Wilde-Donald Guerrier is considered one of the best Haiti footballers. Guerrier played for Violette AC and America des Cayes before joining Polish side Wisla Krakow in 2013. After scoring 20 goals in 75 appearances for the Biala Gwiazda, the Haiti international moved to Turkey, signing a deal with Alanyaspor.
In 2017 Wild-Donald Guerrier joined Qarabag and he has been playing for the Azeri side ever since. He scored his first ever goal in the Champions League on July 11, 2017 in Qarabag’s 5-0 win over Samtredia in the qualifiers for the group stages of the elite competition. Qarabag became the first team to reach the group stages of the Champions League in the 2017/2018 season.
Speaking of his international career, Wild-Donald Guerrier scored his first goal for Haiti in a 2-1 loss to Spain in June, 2013. His main position is left-back, but he is used as a left midfielder as well. Guerrier’s preferred foot is left.
Highlighted Team (Qarabag):
Over the years Qarabag have established themselves as one of the best teams in Azerbaijan. The club was founded in 1951 and they were playing under the name of Mehsul back then. Qarabag won their first trophy in the national championship in 1993, beating Khazar Sumgayit in the title game.
In the 2015/2016 season they won their fourth domestic trophy, with the team finishing the season 22 points clear of second-placed Zira. Qarabag participated in the 2016/2017 Champions League qualifiers, but they were more than unfortunate to suffer a loss to Viktoria Plzen in the two-legged tie. The Azerbaijan outfit were beaten by the Czechs on away goal rule and, as a result, they made it to the Europa League playoffs.
Thanks to a win over Goteborg in the double-header Qarabag made it to the knockout stages of the competition. The Horsemen play their home games at Azersun Arena and their home colours are black. Qarabag play their away games in white kits.
