Our football match prediction:
All eyes will be on Estadio Municipal de Anoeta when Real Sociedad and Zenit square off against each other in the Group L derby. Eusebio Sacristan’s men are eyeing their fourth consecutive win in the group stages of the Europa League and a victory over the Zenitchiki will see them finish the process in top position in the standings. La Real are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but Thursday’s football game against Zenit will be anything but a walk in the park for the La Liga side. Zenit booked their place in the last 32 as well, but no doubt, they want to extend their unbeaten run in the Europa League to six games. The two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment and we predict they are going to share the spoils in San Sebastian in their last group game.
Highlighted Player (Xabi Prieto):
Xabi Prieto was born in San Sebastian and he plays for his home-town club Real Sociedad. He is a product of Real Sociedad’s youth school and there is every chance he will end his career at Anoeta. Xabi Prieto was born on 29 August, 1983 and he made his La Liga debut for La Real on 26 October, 2003 in a 1-0 win over Osasuna. He played probably the best match of his career against Real Madrid on 23 May, 2004 as he scored a brace for the Basques in a 4-1 win over los Blancos. Prieto impressed in the 2012/2013 La Liga campaign as he scored nine goals for Real Sociedad in 35 league appearances for the club. He has five caps for Spain U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the first team. Xabi Prieto plays as a midfielder and he wears number 10 on his shirt. It is well known that Xabi is a penalty kick specialist.
Highlighted Team (Zenit Petersburg):
Zenit Saint Petersburg are a Russian football club that was founded by workers of Leningrad Metal Plant in 1925. Over the years the Zenitchiki have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in Russian football, but they won their first domestic trophy in 1984. Zenit have been impressive in the national championship in the 21st century, winning four league titles, while clinching two Russian Cups (2010, 2016). The Zenitchiki are a regular participant of the Champions League group stages and in 2008 they did well to win the UEFA Cup. The Russian outfit defeated Glasgow Rangers (2-0) in the title game, with Denisov and Zyryanov both finding the net in the final of the competition. Zenit play their home games at Krestovsky Stadium, the venue that was opened in 2016. Gazprom are the club’s main sponsors and the colour of their home shirts is white-sky blue. Brazilian ace Hulk is probably the most notable footballer who played for Zenit.
