Our football match prediction:
Salzburg and Olympique Marseille face each other at Red Bull Arena in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Thursday’s program. The Red Bulls played out a 1-1 draw with Vitoria Guimaraes in their opener and they face an uphill task in the game against the star-studded Ligue 1 outfit. OM chiefs did well to add a number of top-class players to the squad in the summer transfer window and it is no surprise the French club are seen as hot favourites to finish the process in top position in Group I. Dimitri Payet, who used to play for West Ham United in the Premier League, is likely to start for the visitors and the opposition defenders should have him at bay. Olympique Marseille recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Konyaspor in the opening match of their Europa League campaign and we predict that they will give fans yet another reason for celebration on Thursday evening.
Highligted Player (Hee-Chan Hwang):
Hwang Hee-Chan is a product of Pohang Steelers football academy. The Korean attacker, who was born in Chuncheon on January 26, 1996, started his senior career at FC Liefering of Austria and he scored 13 goals in 31 appearances for the club. The 177-cm tall striker currently plays for Red Bull Salzburg and you should bear in mind that he netted 12 goals for the club in the 2016/2017 season. Hwang Hee-Chan won his second Austrian Bundesliga title with Salzburg in the 2016/2017 season, but the Red Bulls eventually failed to make it to the Champions League group stages. The Salzburg footballer made his South Korea debut in a 2-0 win over Canada on November 11, 2016. Hee-Chan played regularly for the Korea national football team in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and he scored one goal in the process. The Koreans eventually booked their place at the showpiece tournament in Russia, meaning that the Salzburg attacker will have a chance to prove his worth on the big stage.
Highlighted Team (Olympique Marseille):
Olympique de Marseille are considered one of the best French football clubs. Les Olympiens won their ninth Ligue 1 title in 2010, but winning of the 1992/1993 Champions League trophy is seen as the club’s biggest success. Marseille defeated Italian giants Milan in the title game, with Basile Boli scoring the winner (1-0) in the Olympiastadion showdown. It has to be noted, though, that the Stade Velodrome outfit were banned from defending the title in the 1993/1994 season after being involved in a match-fixing scandal. To make things even worse for the fans, the club suffered enforced relegation to the Ligue 2. Olympique de Marseille participated in the Europa League final on two occasions (1998/1999, 2003/2004), but they were beaten by Parma and Valencia respectively in the title games. OM’s home ground Stade Velodrome was opened on June 13, 1997 and the capacity of the stadium is 67.394. The likes of Franck Ribery, Didier Deschamps, Didier Drogba, Laurent Blanc, Fabien Barthez, Samir Nasri, Fabrizio Ravanelli and Djibril Cisse all played for Marseille in the past.
