Our match prediction:
Despite playing out a 2-2 draw with Ludogorets in Razgrad in the Champions League third qualifying round, first leg, Crvena zvezda eventually failed to book their place in the elite division play-offs. The Serbian outfit, though, made it to the Europa League play-offs and they face Serie A side Sassuolo in the two-legged tie. Over the years Sassuolo have established themselves as a top-table side in the Italian top flight and they are considered favourites on paper to advance to the Europa League group stages. Miodrag Bozovic’s men are the dominant force in the Serbian Super League, but they have been struggling in European competitions in the 21st century and, no doubt, the Serbs are under big pressure ahead of Thursday’s football match against Sassuolo. Crvena zvezda key midfielder Kanga misses the match through suspension and, taking everything into account, we predict that the Italians are going to emerge triumphant in the first leg.
