Our football match prediction:
Despite being regarded as underdogs in their opener against Hoffenheim, Sporting Braga did remarkably well to shock the Bundesliga side at WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena. Os Minhotos are brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of Istanbul Basaksehir, but beating the star-studded Turkish side is easier said than done. Braga are likely to adopt a cautious approach in Thursday’s football match as they would be happy with one point from their second group game. Basaksehir, on the other hand, were more than unfortunate not to eliminate Sevilla in the Champions League play-offs and they kicked off their Europa League campaign with a goalless draw against Ludogorets. Emmanuel Adebayor is likely to lead the line for the visitors against the Portuguese side and the opposition back-line should have him at bay. A close encounter is on the horizon and we believe that the two sides will share the spoils at Estadio Munipal de Braga.
Highlighted Player (Ahmed Hassan):
After spending four seasons at Braga, Ahmed Hassan “Koka” joined Braga in 2015, signing a five-year deal with the Portuguese outfit. The Egyptian striker, who was born in Cairo on 5 March, 1993 made 23 league appearances for Braga in the 2015/2016 season, scoring 10 goals in the Primeira Liga. Ahmed Hassan won Taca de Portugal with Os Minhotos in 2016 and he started the title game against Porto. Braga defeated the Portuguese giants on penalties in the cup final. Speaking of his international career, “Koka” won the African U20 Championship with Egypt and he made his full international debut with the first team on 14 August, 2013 in a 3-0 win over Uganda. Ahmed Hassan found the net on his debut for the Egyptian national team. He has a contract with Braga which expires on 30 June, 2020. His highest market value was £4.25 million on February 24, 2016. Ahmed Hassan began his youth career at Al Ahly.
Highlighted Team (Basaksehir):
Istanbul Basaksehir are one of the youngest clubs in Turkey. Founded in 1990, Istanbul Basaksehir play their home games at Fatih Terim Stadium, the venue that was opened in 2014. The Turkish club club have yet to win the national championship, but they did well to finish the 2016/2017 Super Lig campaign in second place in the standings. As a result, Istanbul Basaksehir booked their place in the Champions League qualifiers and thanks to a win over Club Brugge in the two-legged tie the capital club set up a meeting with La Liga side Sevilla in the play-offs. Despite producing fine performances in the double-header against the star-studded Spanish side Istanbul Basaksehir eventually failed to make it to the Champions League group stages. Nonetheless, the club will represent Turkey in the group stages of the Europa League in the 2017/2018 season. It has to be noted that the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Eljero Elia, Emre Belozoglu and Gael Clichy played for Istanbul Basaksehir in the 2017/2018 Champions League qualifiers.
