Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Thursday’s football match at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard pits together Saint-Etienne and Qabala. Les Verts shared the spoils with Mainz in their opener and they were more than fortunate not to suffer a loss to Anderlecht in their second group game. The Ligue 1 side scored a late equalizer in the clash against Rene Weiler’s troops, but they are certainly capable of beating Qabala in their third group game. Saint-Etienne are on an eight-game unbeaten run at home in the Europa League and that is giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Thursday’s football match. Roman Grigorchuk’s men were totally outplayed by Anderlecht in their first away game in Group C and they are unlikely to upset les Verts at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Nolan Roux came as a substitute and scored in a 1-1 draw with Dijon at the weekend and we predict that the 28-year-old attacker is going to lead the line for the hosts against Qabala.
Highlighted Player (Florentin Pogba):
Florentin Pogba is a younger brother of famous French player Paul Pogba. Florentin was born in Conakry, Guinea, but he played for France U20 team. Unlike his brother, Florentin Pogba plays as a defender for Saint Etienne. He began his senior career at Sedan and he made 44 league appearances for the club in the 2011/2012 season.
In the summer of 2012 he moved to Saint Etienne, but he continued playing for Sedan on loan. After ending his loan spell with les Sangliers Florentin Pogba returned to Saint Etienne and he has been playing for the Ligue 1 outfit ever since. He scored his first goal for les Verts on 3 December n a 2-0 win over Montpellier.
On 11 August, 2010 Pogba made his Guinea debut, coming as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Mali in a friendly and he played his first competitive match for the national team in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Mozambique. It has to be noted that his twin brother Mathias plays football as well.
Highlighted Team (Qabala):
Gabala are one of the youngest clubs in Azerbaijan. The Dag canavari were founded on 3 July, 1995 under the name of Goygol and 11 years later they changed from Goygol to Gabala. It has to be noted that former Arsenal star Tony Adams was in charge of the club from 2010 to 2011.
The English tactician was forced to quit his job due to family problems. Gabala have yet to win the Azerbaijan Premier League title, but they made it to the Azerbaijan Cup final in 2014, losing to Neftchi Baku on penalties in the title game. Gabala booked their place in the 2016/2017 Europa League group stages by beating Slovenian outfit Maribor in the two-legged tie. The club welcome their rivals at Gabala City Stadium.
The venue was opened on 1 September, 2005 and the capacity of the stadium is 2000. Gabala play their home games in red shirts and black shorts, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
