Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Trabzonspor and Krasnodar, the two teams who aim to return to winning ways in the Europa League, face each other at Huseyin Avni Aker Stadyumu on Thursday evening. Trabzonspor produced a fine display in a 2-2 draw with Basel, but they need to pick up all three points from the Krasnodar game if they are to stay in the race for a spot in the knockout stages.
The Turks aim to take advantage of the fact that Krasnodar have been struggling at the back in European competitions this term and we predict that Unal Karaman’s troops are going to prove their worth on the field. The Russian side failed to impress in the Champions League qualifiers and they continue to struggle in the Europa League group stages. Krasnodar were hammered by Basel 5-0 in their first away game in the process, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Daniel Sturridge):
Daniel Sturridge is an English footbal player born on 1st of September 1989 in Birmingham. Sturridge started his football career for Aston Villa. After playing for Chelsea, Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers Sturridge got transferred to Liverpool for approximately 11 million euro. Daniel Sturridge made his debut for the English national team on 15th of November 2011.
Sturridge is known for being a strong and fast left footed striker. Because of his great technique defenders don’t know what to expect once they are in a one against one situation with Sturridge. Sturridge won several prices with Chelsea like the Champions League, the Premier League title and the FA Cup.
Sturridge’s best individual season was in 2013/2014 where he and Suarez were able to reach to the second place in the Premier League. The way Sturridge celebrates his goals are very recognizable and widely mimicked.
Highlighted Team (Krasnodar):
Krasnodar are one of several Russian clubs that were founded in the 21st century (2008). The Byki were promoted to the Russian Premier League in 2011 and they were playing under Serbian tactician Slavoljub Muslin back then. Krasnodar finished the 2014/2015 season in third place in the standings and that is regarded as the club’s biggest success.
The club’s biggest rivals are Kuban Krasnodar and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the local derby. The Bulls participated in the 2015/2016 Europa League group stages and it has to be noted that they managed to beat star-studded Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in front of home fans.
However, they failed to make life difficult for Sparta Prague in the last 32, losing 4-0 to the Czech outfit on aggregate. Krasnodar play their home matches at Krasnodar Stadium, the venue that was built in 2016. The capacity of the stadium is 33,000.
