Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Against all odds, Wolfsberger crushed Borussia M’gladbach 4-0 on the road on their Europa League debut. The Austrian side proved their worth in their first ever game in the European competition and, no doubt, the hosts are brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of Roma. Wolfsberger have been scoring goals for fun in all competitions this season and you should bear in mind that they netted 15 goals in total in previous four home games in the national championship.
The Romans kicked off their Europa League campaign in style as well, with the team rolling over Istanbul Basaksehir 4-0 at their Stadio Olimpico, but beating Wolfsberger, who impressed in the 4-0 win over die Fohlen, is easier said than done. A close encounter is on the cards and seeing that both teams would be happy with one point from the match, we are tempted to put our money on draw.
Highlighted Player (Shon Weissman):
After spending his youth career Maccabi Haifa, Shon Weissman continued wearing the green and white shirt at senior level. The 174-tall forward scored 8 goals in 32 appearances in the league for the Greens before joining Wolfsberger in 2019.
It has to be noted, though, that he played for the likes of Hapoel Acre, Maccabi Netanya and Ironi Kiryat Shmona on loan as well from 2015 to 2018. Born in Haifa on February 14, 1996 the Israeli footballer has yet to make his senior debut with the Israel national team, but he has two caps with the U21 team. Speaking of his career at Wolfsberger, Shon Weissman made his Austrian Bundesliga debut on July 27, 2019 in a 3-0 win at Admira.
Weissman opened his goal-scoring account on the same day, finding the net twice in the BSFZ-Arena clash. His main position is centre-forward, but he is capable of playing as both second striker and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma is a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football.
The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. The Prince of Rom made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
