Our football match prediction:
Arena L’viv will host Thursday’s football match between Zorya and Ostersunds. The Ukrainian side failed to impress in the group stages of the Europa League last term, with the team scoring no more than two goals in the process. Zorya are eager to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign and they are likely to go for a win in their opener against Ostersunds. Against all odds, the Swedish side eliminated PAOK of Greece in the Europa League play-offs and it remains to be seen if they are capable of giving fans yet another reason for celebration. A close encounter appears on the horizon, but seeing that Zorya hammered Chornomorets (5-0) in their last home game in the national championship, we predict that Yury Vernydub’s troops are going to pick up all three points from the game. It has to be noted that the two teams meet for the first time ever in European competitions.
Highlighted Player (Oleksiy Shevchenko):
Oleksiy Shevchenko is a Ukrainian goalkeeper who was born in Dnipropetrovsk on February 24, 1992. The 188-cm tall shot-stopper played for his home-town club Inter Dnipropetrovsk during his youth career and he started his senior career at Metalurh Zaporizhya. Oleksiy Shevchenko made 13 appearances for Metalurh 2, while playing no more than 13 games for the first team. In 2013 he moved to Dynamo Kyiv, but he was immediately sent on loan to Hoverla Uzhhorod. The Ukrainian goalkeeper played for the likes of Olimpik Donetsk, Torpedo Kutaisi and Dila Gori on loan as well before signing a contract with Zorya Luhansk in 2016. Shevchenko made his debut for Zorya in the Ukrainian Premier League on April 10, 2016 in a 2-1 loss to Dnipro. He quickly established himself as a first-team regular at Zorya and he did well to keep ten clean sheets in 25 appearances for Zorya in the 2016/2017 Ukrainian Premier League campaign. Shevchenko received his first call-up for the Ukraine national football team in October 2016 for 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Turkey and Kosovo.
Highlighted Team (Ostersunds):
Against all odds, Ostersunds made it to the 2017/2018 Europa League group stages. Despite being regarded as big underdogs in the two-legged tie against PAOK, the Swedish club did well to shock the Greek side in the play-off round and, as a result, they will have a chance to prove their worth on the big stage. Ostersunds will face the likes of Zorya, Hertha and Athletic Bilbao in Group J and they will welcome their rivals at their Jamtkraft Arena. The stadium was opened on July 13, 2007 and the capacity of the venue is 8.466. Ostersunds, who were promoted to the Swedish top flight in 2016, did well to win the 2016/2017 Swedish Cup and that is considered as the club’s biggest success. The club was founded in 1996 and they are well known for their jerseys with red and black stripes. Ostersunds play their away games in white shirts and white shorts and the likes of Saman Ghoddos, Jamie Hopcutt, Jamal Blackman, Samuel Mensiro, Michael Tidser, David Accam, Brian Wake, Lee Makel and Connor Ripley are the notable footballers who played for the Swedish club in the past.
