Our prediction for this FA Cup match:
Wednesday’s football game at Brunton Park pits together Carlisle United and Cardiff City, the two teams who played out a 2-2 draw at Cardiff City Stadium in the original FA Cup fixture. The Bluebirds do not seem to be on top of their game at the moment as they suffered a massive 6-1 defeat at QPR in their last away game in the Championship. Cardiff City played out a goalless draw with Swansea City in the South Wales derby at the weekend, with the team remaining in the middle of the standings.
The Cumbrians, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-0 home loss to Plymouth on Saturday afternoon. Given their shaky defence, we believe that away win should be considered. Cardiff City boss Neil Harris mixed the squad in the original fixture, but he is likely to count on star players this time out.
Highlighted Player (Gethin Jones):
Born in Perth, Australia on October 13, 1995, Gethin Jones is a professional footballer who plays for Carlisle United in the League Two as a defender. Jones is a product of the Wrexham football school, but he played for Everton at youth level as well.
The pacey right-back made only one appearance for the Toffees as he played against Krasnodar in the Europa League 2013/2014 season. Gethin Jones played for the likes of Plymouth Argyle (loan), Barnsley (loan), Fleetwood Town, and Mansfield Town (loan) as well before joining his current club Carlisle United. Jones is eligible to play for Australia and Wales despite playing for the Wales U17, U19, and U21 teams in the past.
He made his League Two debut with Carlisle United in a 3-2 win over Stevenage on September 14, 2019. Jones’ main position is right-back, but he is used as both right midfielder and left-back as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Cardiff):
Cardiff City are a Welsh football club that compete in the English second tier (Championship). In 2009 they moved from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, the venue that officially holds 33,280 spectators.
The Bluebirds played their first ever Premier League match on 18 August, 2013, but they were beaten by West Ham United (0-2) on their debut in the English top flight. However, a week later Fraizer Campbell (two goals) and Aron Gunnarson helped Cardiff City record their first ever win in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds outplayed Manchester City back then, but they eventually dropped to the Championship at the end of the season. Fellow Welsh outfit Swansea City are considered Cardiff’s fiercest rivals and the two teams take on each other in the South Wales derby.
The colour of Cardiff City’s home kit is blue, whilst they wear red shirts and shorts when playing on the travels.
