Our prediction for this FIFA Club World Cup match:
Kashima Antlers have been producing splendid displays at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. Masatada Ishii’s men recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win over Auckland City in their opener and thanks to a 2-0 victory over Mamelodi the Japanese outfit booked their place in the semis of the tournament. Atletico Nacional are likely to pose a much bigger threat for Kashima than their previous rivals and we predict that the Antlers are going to adopt a defence-minded approach in Wednesday’s football match. The Colombian team called for Chapecoense to be awarded Copa Sudamericana title after the plane crash and the CONMEBOL eventually accepted the proposal. Atletico Nacional are eager to record a good result at the tournament in Japan and, no doubt, there will be fireworks when the two teams face each other at Suita City Football Stadium. Taking everything into account, a close encounter appears on the cards.
Highlighted Team (Atletico Nacional):
Atletico Nacional are a Colombian football club which was found on March 7, 1947. El Verde (the Green) play their home games at Estadio Atanasio Girardot Medelin and it has to be noted that the venue was opened back in 1953. Atletico Nacional are the first Colombian team to win Copa Libertadores, with the team beating Olimpia of Paraguay in the title game back in 1989. 27 years later el Verde won their second trophy in the elite competition as they outplayed Independiente del Valle in the two-legged tie. Borja scored the winner in the return leg and, no doubt, that was the most important goal of his career. Atletico Nacional won their 15th Primera A trophy in 2015 and they have three Copa Colombia titles as well (2013, 2013, 2016). The likes of Rene Higuita, Faustino Asprilla, Diego Osorio, Juan Pablo Angel, Ivan Cordoba, Juan Camilo Zuniga, David Ospina, Oscar Murillo and Andres Escobar are the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Escobar represented Colombia at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and he was killed by gunmen after scoring an own goal in a 2-1 loss to USA.
