Our football match prediction:
A place in the FIFA Club World Cup final will be at stake when Club America and Real Madrid face each other at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama. The Mexican outfit set up a meeting with los Blancos by beating Jeonbuk Motors, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Thursday’s football match against the Champions League winners. Club America are on an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions, but they are unlikely to upset the star-studded La Liga side. Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane rested his key players in Saturday’s league game against Deportivo La Coruna and, no doubt, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karem Benzema and Marcelo will return to the starting line-up for the FIFA Club World Cup semis. Los Blancos are determined to prove their worth at the tournament in Japan and we predict that they will emerge triumphant in their opener.
Highlighted Player (Cristiano Ronaldo):
Cristiano Ronaldo is considered one of the world’s best football players. The Portuguese ace was born on 5 February, 1985 in Funchal, Madeira and he played for the likes of Andorinha, Nacional and Sporting during his youth career. CR7 made his Sporting debut in Primeira Liga on 7 October, 2002, scoring two goals in a 3-0 win over Moreirense. Manchester United scouts spotted him and one year later he joined the Old Trafford outfit. Ronaldo became the most expensive teenager in the history of the Premier League and he received the number 7 shirt. He quickly established himself as the team’s key player and it has to be noted that he won three consecutive Premier League trophies with the Red Devils (2006/2007, 2007/2008, 2008/2009). In 2008 he helped the Old Trafford outfit beat Chelsea in the Champions League final, scoring for Alex Ferguson’s troops in the regular time. Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009 and he helped the Spanish giants with two Champions League trophies. In 2016 he won the European Championship trophy with Portugal. The Real Madrid ace has two Golden Ball awards (2013, 2014).
Highlighted Team (Club America):
Over the years Club America have established themselves as one of the best teams in Mexico. Los Aguilas (the Eagles) welcome their opponents at Estadio Azteca and the capacity of the stadium is 87.000. Estadio Azteca is the biggest stadium in Mexico. America were found on October 12, 1916 and they have been playing an important role in Mexican football ever since. In 2014 Club America won their 12th league trophy. Los Aguilas clinched the Apertura title, which is the first championship of the season. Club America have seven CONCACAF Champions’ Cup trophies as well and in 1990 they won their second Copa Interamericana title. Former Real Madrid striker Hugo Sanchez is probably the most notable footballer who played for the club in the past. Sanchez made 29 league appearances for Club America in the 1992/1993 season and he scored 11 goals for the Mexican team. The club’s home colours are yellow and white, whilst the colour of the team’s away kit is dark red.
