Our football match prediction:
Both Honduras and French Guiana aim to keep their hopes of booking their place in the knockout stages of the 2017 Gold Cup alive and we predict that both sides will go for a win in Wednesday’s football match. French Guiana experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the 4-2 loss to Canada in their opener, but Guingamp attacker Sloan Privat once again proved his worth. The 27-year-old forward scored in the defeat to les Rouges and he will be the man to watch in Jair Karam’s team when they take on Honduras at BBVA Compass Stadium. Los Catrachos suffered a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica in the opening match of their Gold Cup campaign, but they should have picked up at least one point from the match. Honduras are more of a team than French Guiana and we believe that they are going to emerge triumphant in their second group game.
Highlighted Player (Romell Quioto):
Romell Quioto is a pacey winger who plays for both Houston Dynamo and the Honduras national football team. Quioto was born in Balfate (Honduras) on August 9, 1991 and he played for Union Ajax during his youth career. The Honduras striker started his senior career at Vida and it has to be noted that he scored 20 goals in 77 appearances in the league for the club. In 2012 he was sent on loan to Polish club Wisla Krakow, but he played no more than nine games for The White Star in Ekstraklasa. Romell Quioto then took a step forward in his career as he signed a contract with famous Honduras club Olimpia. After scoring 38 goals in 96 league fixtures for the capital club the 180-cm-tall attacker decided to taste MLS football. Quioto moved to Houston Dynamo in December, 2016 and he has been playing for the Major League Soccer club ever since. Speaking of his international debut, Romell Quioto received his first call-up for Honduras on February 29, 2012 for a friendly game against Ecuador.
Highlighted Team (French Guiana):
Seeing that French Guiana are an overseas department of France, they are not eligible to participate at the World Cup finals. The Guianese players, though, are eligible to play for the French national team and it has to be noted that both Florent Malouda and Bernard Lama were born in French Guiana. However, French Guiana are a member of both CONCACAF and CFU and, as a result, they qualified for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup finals. The team made it to the finals of the tournament for the first time ever and, on the other hand, they participated at the Carribean Cup on three occasions (1995, 2012, 2014). It has to be noted that French Guaiana have yet to make it to the knockout stages of the tournament. Sloan Privat (Guingamp) is considered the most famous footballer to receive a call-up for the French Guiana national football team. Stade Baduel is regarded as the home ground of the national team and the capacity of the stadium is 7,000.
