Our football match prediction:
Barcelona will be looking to get their revenge on Juventus for the loss in the 2016/2017 Champions League knockout stages when the two teams face each other at the 2017 International Champions Cup. The Catalan giants want to leave the last season behind them and, no doubt, they can’t wait for the pre-season to start. New coach Ernesto Valverde is eager to mark his debut with a win and we predict that the former Athletic Bilbao boss is going to field the best possible side against Juventus. The Bianconeri did remarkably well to make it to the Champions League final last term, but Real Madrid proved to be a big catch for the Serie A champions in the title game. New signing Douglas Costa is eager to prove his worth in the clash against Barcelona and, taking everything into account, an entertaining game appears on the cards. Seeing that Barca want this win more than Juve, we believe that the La Liga side will emerge triumphant in Sunday’s football match.
Highlighted Player (Javier Mascherano):
Born in San Lorenzo, Argentina on 8 June, 1984 Javier Mascherano began his senior career at River Plate. After making 46 appearances for the Argentine outfit he joined Corinthians in 2005 and he played 17 league games for the Brazilian team. Mascherano moved to Europe in 2006 and despite being on Real Madrid’s and Barcelona’s radar, he signed a contract with West Ham United. The centre back, who is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well, played no more than five games for the Hammers in the Premier League and in 2007 he signed a contract with Liverpool. Three years later Mascherano joined Barcelona and he has been playing for the Catalan giants ever since. In 2016 he won his fourth La Liga trophy with Barca, making 32 league appearances for the club in the 2015/2016 campaign. The Argentine footballer won two Champions League trophies with Barcelona, in 2011 and in 2015. His contract with the Catalan outfit expires on 30 June, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Juventus):
Juventus are considered one of the greatest European football clubs. The Bianconeri (The White and Blacks) have won two Champions League trophies (1985, 1996) and they did well to clinch three UEFA Cup titles (1977, 1990, 1993). The Italian giants have won 32 Serie A trophies and it is well known that a number of star players were part of Juve in the past. The likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Lilian Thuram, Filippo Inzaghi, Pavel Nedved and David Trezeguet all played for Juventus, whilst legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has yet to retire. Juve were stripped two domestic trophies during the “Calciopoli” scandal, but despite being relegated to Serie B, the club quickly brought glory days back to Turin. The Bianconeri used to play their home games at Stadio delle Alpi, but nowadays they welcome their rivals at Juventus Stadium. The capacity of the stadium is 41,475. La Vechhia Signora (The Old Lady) is yet another nickname of the club. Juve’s biggest rivals are Torino and the two local rivals take on each other in the Turin derby.
