Our football match prediction:
After suffering four consecutive losses, Costa Rica will be looking to give fans some cheer when they take on Chile at Estadio El Teniente on Saturday. Los Ticos failed to impress at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals and they continue to struggle on the international stage. New coach Gonzales is eager to help the team regain a much-needed confidence, but beating Chile in Rancagua is easier said than done. La Roja, on the other hand, proved their worth in a 1-0 win over Mexico last month and it is no surprise they are seen as hot favourites to win Saturday’s football match against Costa Rica. As always, a man to watch in the home team will be Alexis Sanchez, who came as a substitute for Man Utd in a 3-1 loss to Man City at the weekend. Anyhow, Chile are more of a team than Costa Rica and home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Junior Fernandes):
A Chilean footballer of Brazilian descent, Junior Fernandes is a 27-year-old striker who plays for the Croatian powerhouse Dinamo Zagreb. Fernandes started his career in Cobreloa and was forced to go through various clubs and league ranks to achieve his full professional promotion. A footballing nomad who played for no less than six different teams prior to his move to Croatia is considered one of the most valuable performers for Dinamo Zagreb. Having first arrived on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013, Fernandes made his switch a permanent one a following year when he signed a six-year contract. It didn’t take long for the Chilean forward to establish himself as a first-time choice for the Croatian powerhouse. Junior Fernandes scored plenty of important goals for Dinamo Zagreb such as the 90th minute equaliser against RB Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League playoff, which sent the game into extra time allowing El Arabi Hillel Soudani to score a 2-1 winner and send his team to the group stage of Europe’s elite competition.
Highlighted Team (Costa Rica):
Los Ticos are administered by the Costa Rican Football Federation and are members of the CONCACAF confederation competing at the international stage since 1921, although it was not until 1927 that they had become the FIFA members. Costa Rica is the most successful national football team in the history of Central America with eight championships and their decorated reputation was upheld in 2014 when the current Central American champions made an imposing impression during the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Having reached the quarter-finals, Costa Ricans continue to be a thorn in the side for a many bigger soccer nations. Alvaro Saborio is the most-capped member of the current team captained by Bryan Ruiz, but the most prominent star of the squad is definitely Real Madrid goalkeeper and 2016 Champions League winner Keylor Navas. Arsenal forward Joel Campbell is also a notable player whose 2014 FIFA World Cup performances have been nothing short of impressive.
