Our football match prediction:
Despite being regarded as favourites to win the Euro 2016 final against Portugal, les Tricolores failed to beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. in the title game. However, Didier Deschamps is still in charge of the French national team and the former Juventus footballer is a on a quest to help les Tricolores qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals. Deschamps has a number of high-profile players to choose from and regardless of which footballers will be deployed in the starting XI against Ivory Coast, we predict that the hosts will emerge triumphant in their final game in 2016. The Elephants recorded their last win over a European side back in 2012, when they defeated Austria in a friendly game and they are unlikely to spoil France’s party at Stade de France. Olivier Giroud, who has been in a thrilling form of late, is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Ivory Coast.
Highligted Player (Kante):
Born in Paris in 1991, N’Golo Kante spent his early career playing for French minnows Boulogne and Caen, but he didn’t need a lot of time to catch the eye of high-profile clubs. The holding midfielder was on the verge of joining Marseille in the summer of 2015 when Leicester City submitted a £5.6 million for his services and he eventually signed for the King Power Stadium outfit. Destiny appears to have played a part in the move as Kante would go on to become one of leading Premier League footballers in an unbelievable season that ended with the Foxes winning the Premiership trophy. Having deservedly been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award, Kante would also receive the first ever call-up for the national team in March 2016, and he impressed in his first two appearances, scoring a goal in the 4-2 triumph over Russia. A combative midfielder with an amazing pair of lungs, Kante impressed Premier League fans and pundits alike, and he will probably go down as one of the best holding midfielders to have ever played for an English club.
Highlighted Team (Ivory Coast):
Over the years Ivory Coast have established themselves as one of the best African teams. The Elephants won their second Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 2015, with the team beating Ghana in the final of the tournament. Ivory Coast defeated the Black Stars on penalties and it has to be noted that goalkeeper Boubacar Barry scored the winner. A number of high-profile footballers played (or play) for the Ivory Coast national team, but, no doubt, the most notable players are Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue, Salomon Kalou and Gervinho. Ivory Coast are well known for their orange kit, but they play their away games in green shirts and green shorts. Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny is regarded as the team’s home stadium. Didier Zokora is the player with the most caps for the Ivory Coast national team (123), while aforementioned attacker Didier Drogba is the team’s top scorer (65 goals). Drogba is the symbol of the Ivory Coast football and the former Chelsea man played for the national team from 2002 to 2014.
