Our football match prediction:
Sunday’s football game at Gillette Stadium pits together Roma and Juventus, the two Serie A teams. Over the years Roma have been trying to put an end to Juve’s dominance in the Italian top flight, but the Bianconeri won the 2016/2017 Serie A title without any difficulties. The Giallorossi are ready for a new beginning and new coach Eusebio di Francesco is definitely capable of turning things around at Stadio Olimpico. Roma face Juventus at the 2017 International Champions Cup and they are likely to fight tooth and nail in Sunday’s clash against the Bianconeri. Max Allegri’s team are preparing for the Italian Super Cup clash against Lazio and the former AC Milan tactician could use upcoming games to rest key players. Anyhow, regardless of which players will be deployed in the starting line-up, Juve are capable of avoiding defeat in Sunday’s warm-up game against Roma.
Highlighted Player (Mandzukic):
Mario Mandzukic is one of Croatia’s most famous footballers, who was born in Slavonski Brod on 21 May 1986. The striker arrived to Dinamo Zagreb in 2007 via Marsonia and NK Zagreb, and that was when his meteoric rise began. After proving his worth on domestic stage, Mandzukic secured a move to VFL Wolfsburg, with three years in Bundesliga proving enough to get a call from European powerhouses Bayern Munich. The experienced striker won back to back Bundesliga titles at Allianz Arena, scoring 33 goals in 54 league outings, before he was sold to Atletico Madrid. The Croatia hotshot had mixed success in Spanish La Liga and eventually decided to join Juventus, where he also failed to impress during his debut season, but scored some important goals as the Bianconeri won fifth straight league trophy. Mandzukic has been a member of the Croatia national team since 2007 and he represented the country at the Euro 2012, 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016 finals. Usually operating as a target man, the striker boasts a very good goalscoring record, but he does not always take his chances.
Highlighted Team (Juventus):
Juventus are considered one of the greatest European football clubs. The Bianconeri (The White and Blacks) have won two Champions League trophies (1985, 1996) and they did well to clinch three UEFA Cup titles (1977, 1990, 1993). The Italian giants have won 32 Serie A trophies and it is well known that a number of star players were part of Juve in the past. The likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Lilian Thuram, Filippo Inzaghi, Pavel Nedved and David Trezeguet all played for Juventus, whilst legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has yet to retire. Juve were stripped two domestic trophies during the “Calciopoli” scandal, but despite being relegated to Serie B, the club quickly brought glory days back to Turin. The Bianconeri used to play their home games at Stadio delle Alpi, but nowadays they welcome their rivals at Juventus Stadium. The capacity of the stadium is 41,475. La Vechhia Signora (The Old Lady) is yet another nickname of the club. Juve’s biggest rivals are Torino and the two local rivals take on each other in the Turin derby.
