Our prediction for this match:
It has been three years since Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool last faced each other in a football match. Back then the Reds defeated the Riversiders in the FA Cup and it has to be noted that Jurgen Klopp’s troops are undefeated in previous four meetings with the Championship side. Blackburn Rovers did well to secure promotion to the English second tier, but they do not want to stop now. The Riversiders aim to prepare for the upcoming season in the best way possible and, no doubt, they will measure their quality in Thursday’s football match against Liverpool. The Reds failed to impress in a goalless draw with Bury, meaning that they are going to give 100% in order to return to winning ways. Despite the fact that Jurgen Klopps is likely to mix the squad against Blackburn, we are tempted to put our money on the Premier League side.
Highlighted Player (Fabinho):
One of the hottest talents and emerging star of the new generation at AS Monaco is the Brazilian international Fabinho. The 22-year-old right-back began his career at Rio Ave, but was quickly noticed by Real Madrid, who brought him on loan in 2012 where Fabinho failed to make an impression and break into the first team at Santiago Bernabeu.
A loan move to Monaco proved to be a perfect choice for the player who signed a permanent deal with the Principality in 2015 after making an immediate impact with his new club. Fabinho went on to score 15 goals in more than 130 appearances for Monaco, and has made his full Brazil debut with the club. His compelling performances in Ligue 1 have earned much praise and draw plenty of attention from Europe’s biggest clubs.
During the summer of 2016 Premier League powerhouse Manchester United were linked with the talented defender, but Monaco showed great resolve in keeping their prized asset by tying Fabinho to an extended stay with the Principality club.
Highlighted Team (Blackburn Rovers):
Blackburn Rovers have been trying to return to the Premier League ever since they dropped to the Championship in 2012. The Riversiders compete in the English second tier and they play their home games at Ewood Park. Blackburn were founded back in 1875 and they are one of the founding members of the Football League (1888).
Burnley are considered Blackburn’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the East Lancashire derby. It has to be noted that Blackburn Burnley 7-1 in their first ever meeting in the East Lancashire Derby on 3 November, 1888. The Riversiders have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies (1911/1912, 1913/1914, 1994/1995).
Blackburn Rovers have clinched six FA Cup titles as well. Speaking of the club’s European success, the Riversiders won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2007. The colour of Blackburn’s home kit is blue and white.
