Our prediction for this match:
Wednesday’s football game at Phillips Stadion pits together PSV and Wolfsburg, the two teams who face each other in a pre-season friendly. The Boeren experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-2 loss to Nice, but they are definitely capable of grabbing something from the Phillips Stadion friendly. Wolfsburg, on the other hand, have been producing fine performances in pre-season and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play against the Dutch vice-champions.
A lively contest is on the cards in Eindhoven and we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Sam Lammers, who returned to the club in the summer transfer window, whilst PSV defenders should have Wout Weghorst at bay as he found the net in a 2-1 win over Caen.
Highlighted Player (Gaston Pereiro):
Uruguay midfielder Gaston Pereiro has been with PSV since 2015 when he was transferred from his boyhood club Nacional. An attacking midfielder is a member of the Uruguayan U-20 national team and is yet to receive a senior call-up he hopes will come with fine performances at the club he is contracted to until 2020.
Pereiro is a flamboyant midfielder who adds creativity and flair to PSV’s play. The Uruguay international has already achieved the cult status with the supporters, despite being at the club a little over a year. Pereiro scored a brace against PSV’s most feared and detested rivals Ajax, writing his name into the club’s history books as his presence proved to be pivotal in earning three points that proved to be the difference between the two rivals at the end of the season.
Gaston Pereiro made 30 Eredivisie appearances in his maiden season with PSV scoring 12 goals in the process and fans hope that the Uruguay midfielder will add up to the tally in the new season as well.
Highlighted Team (Wolfsburg):
Wolfsburg are a German football club founded in the aftermath of the World War II (1945). Die Wolfe (The Wolves) wear green and white shirts and they play their home games at Volkswagen Arena. The capacity of the stadium is 30,000 and it was opened on 13 December, 2002.
It is well known that German car manufacturer Volkswagen are the club’s main sponsors. Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga trophy in 2009 and the likes of Edin Dzeko, Grafite and Zvjezdan Misimovic were part of the club’s golden generation.
You should bear in mind that Grafite and Dzeko scored 54 goals between each other in the 2008/2009 Bundesliga campaign and that the team clinched the trophy thanks to a 5-1 win over Werder Bremen on 23 May, 2009. Die Wolfe won the German Cup trophy in 2015, with the team beating star-studded Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the title game. Wolfsburg are a team that has no bitter rivals in German football.
