Our prediction for this Ireland Premier Division match:
Sligo Rovers and Waterford face each other at Showgrounds in a covid-postponed fixture. Sligo aim to make amends for a heavy 3-0 loss to Cork City, and a win over Waterford will see them escape the relegation zone. The Bit o’ Red did well to beat Shelbourne in their last home game, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of the Blues. Waterford did well to hold title-chasing Dundalk to a 2-2 draw at the weekend, with the team retaining fifth position in the Ireland Premier Division table.
The Blues aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, but away win should not be considered as first-choice goalkeeper Brian Murphy misses the game with injury. Considering that talented Scotland attacker Alistair Coote is out of contention through suspension, we are tempted to put our money on the relegation-threatened hosts.
