Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Accrington and Blackpool take on each other at Crown Ground in the League One round 19. Accrington experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-3 loss to Wigan, but they did well to beat Gillingham 2-0 on the road on Tuesday evening. John Coleman’s troops are eyeing their fourth consecutive win at home in all competitions, but the game against the Seasiders will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts.
Blackpool proved their worth in their midweek clash, with the team coming from behind to beat promotion-chasing Blackpool 3-2 at home ground. The Seasiders have been playing with confidence in recent weeks, with the team winning three of their previous four league fixtures. Blackpool aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, and we predict that they are going to pick up all three points from Saturday’s clash.
Highlighted Player (Stephen Sama):
Born in Bamenda, Cameroon on March 5, 1993, Stephen Sama is a towering defender who plays for Accrington Stanley in the League One. After moving to Germany, Sama received German citizenship in 2009, and, as a result, he represented the European country at youth level.
The Cameroon-born player has 16 caps in total for Germany U17, U18, U19 and U20 teams. Speaking of his club career, Stephen Sama played for the likes of Schwarz-Weiss Eppendorf, Wattenscheid, Bochum, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool before moving to Stuttgart. Sama played for the likes of Greuther Furth, Osnabruck, and Heracles Almelo before signing a deal with League One club Accrington Stanley.
The 188-cm tall defender made his League One debut on September 12, 2020 in a 2-0 win over Peterborough United. His main position is centre-back, but he is used as both right-back and defensive midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Blackpool):
Blackpool FC are a professional English club based in Blackpool, Lancashire. Considering that Blackpool is a seaside town, it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Seasiders. Founded back in 1887, the club play their home matches at Bloomfield Road, which can hold up to 17,338 spectators. In the 2009/2010 season Blackpool secured promotion to the Premier League, but they were not competitive at this level, suffering relegation to the Championship the following season.
The club’s biggest success, though, came in 1953 when they defeated Bolton Wanderers 4-3 in the FA Cup final. Blackpool are well known for their orange shirts, but the dominant colour of their away kit is white. Preston are considered the club’s biggest rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the West Lancashire derby.
Charlie Adam, who played for Liverpool and has 26 caps for Scotland national team, is regarded as one of the club’s most notable players.
