Our prediction for this League 1 match:
AFC Wimbledon and Blackpool square off against each other at Plough Lane on day 8 of the new League One campaign. Following a 1-0 win at Swindon, the Dons suffered yet another dip in form, with the team collecting only one point from the previous three league fixtures. AFC Wimbledon aim to escape the danger zone, but keep in mind that talented midfielder Jaako Oksanen misses the game with injury.
The Seasiders, on the other hand, aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over MK Dons. Blackpool gave fans something to cheer about at the weekend, but they do not want to stop now. The Seasiders aim to keep on climbing the standings, and given the current atmosphere in AFC Wimbledon’s dressing room, away win should be considered. Pacey winger Sullay Kaikai is likely to keep his place in the starting XI after scoring the winner against MK Dons.
Highlighted Player (Nikola Tzanev):
Nikola Tzanev is a New Zealand goalkeeper who started his youth career at Crystal Palace. Tzanev then moved to Brentford and he continued wearing the red and white shirt at senior level. After ending his loan spell with Lewes, the 195-cm-tall shoot-stopper moved to AFC Wimbledon in 2017.
During the 2018/2019 campaign he played for Potters Bar Town as a loan player, but at the end of the season he returned to AFC Wimbledon. He made his League One debut with the Dons on August 3, 2019 in a 2-1 loss to Rotherham United. Speaking of his international career, Nik Tzanev made his New Zealand debut in a 1-0 win over Chinese Taipei on June 5, 2018.
The Dons goalkeeper has 3 caps for the New Zealand U20 team as well. Nikola Tzanev was born in Wellington on December 23, 1996 and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Blackpool):
Blackpool FC are a professional English club based in Blackpool, Lancashire. Considering that Blackpool is a seaside town, it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Seasiders. Founded back in 1887, the club play their home matches at Bloomfield Road, which can hold up to 17,338 spectators. In the 2009/2010 season Blackpool secured promotion to the Premier League, but they were not competitive at this level, suffering relegation to the Championship the following season.
The club’s biggest success, though, came in 1953 when they defeated Bolton Wanderers 4-3 in the FA Cup final. Blackpool are well known for their orange shirts, but the dominant colour of their away kit is white. Preston are considered the club’s biggest rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the West Lancashire derby.
Charlie Adam, who played for Liverpool and has 26 caps for Scotland national team, is regarded as one of the club’s most notable players.
