Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Tranmere Rovers and Ipswich Town, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the League One standings, take on each other at Prenton Park on Matchday 28. The Whites aim to put an end to their four-game winless run in the League One, but we do not believe that they should be looking for points in the clash against the Tractor Boys. Ipswich Town, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Accrington Stanley at the weekend, and they managed to get one.
Paul Lambert’s men managed to put an end to their eight-game winless run, with James Norwood scoring his tenth goal of the season. Seeing that the Tractor Boys need to keep on winning if they are to return to the Championship, away win should be considered. In the first half of the season Ipswich Town rolled over Tranmere Rovers at Portman Road.
Highlighted Player (Ollie Banks):
Ollie Banks is an English footballer who plays for League One side Tranmere Rovers. The Rotherham local who was born on the 21st of Septemeber, 1992, joined Rotherham United in 2010 and made his professional debut in May 2011 the following season.
Incidentally, his debut game would also mark his first professional goal in football and even his final appearance for The Millers, who released him in 2012. During the next couple of years, Banks played for several Sixth and Seven tier teams before signing a professional contract with Chesterfield FC in September 2013. Banks made over 90 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and helping them earn promotion to League One at the end of the 13/14 season.
A notable spell at Oldham Athletic succeeded his time at The Spireties before he finally joined Tranmere Rovers in May 2018. The 27-year-old who predominantly plays as a central midfielder is known for his dynamism and versatility.
Highlighted Team (Ipswich):
Ipswich Town are an English football club that was formed in 1878. Portman Road has been the home ground of Ipswich Town since 1894 and the capacity of the venue, which was expanded in 2002, is 30,311. The Tractor Boys compete in the Championship, but they used to play in the English Premier League in the past as well. Ipswich Town last appeared in the elite division in the 2001/2002 season.
Ipswich won the FA Cup in 1978, with the team beating Arsenal (1-0) in the title game. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1981 when they outplayed AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup final. It has to be noted that the Tractor Boys have yet to suffer a loss at home ground in the European competitions.
Norwich City are regarded as Ipswich Town’s bitterest rivals and it is well known that the two sides take on each other in the East Anglian derby.
