Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Following an unlucky defeat at Leyton Orient, Newport County will be looking to return to winning ways in the League Two when they host Macclesfield Town at Rodney Parade on Tuesday evening. The Exiles did well to beat league leaders Swindon Town 2-0 in their last home game in the league, which is certainly giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Macclesfield Town.
The Silkmen, on the other hand, continue to struggle on the travels. Macclesfield Town are on a seven-game winless run on the road ahead of the trip to Wales, and we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing something from the midweek clash. You should bear in mind that the visitors will be without suspended defender Corey O’Keefe against Newport County as the youngster was sent off in a 2-1 win over Forest Green at the weekend.
Highlighted Player (Ade Azeez):
Adebayo Azeez is a professional football player who was born in Orpington, England on January 8, 1994. Azeez started his youth career at Rivercray, and in 2008 he moved to Charlton Athletic. Despite signing a professional contract with the Red Robins, the pacey attacker did not see any game action with the capital club.
After spending a couple of seasons on loan Wycombe Wanderers, Leyton Orient, Torquey United, and Dag & Red, Adebayo Azeez signed a contract with AFC Wimbledon in the summer of 2014. Azeez played for the likes of Partick Thistle, Cambridge United, and Dover Athletic (loan) as well before joining Newport County on January 31, 2019, on a permanent deal.
The Newport County forward has 3 caps with the England U19 team. His main position is centre-forward, but he is capable of producing fine showings as both, right and left winger. Adebayo Azeez has dual citizenship (England/Nigeria).
Highlighted Team (Macclesfield):
Formed in 1984, Macclesfield Town are a professional football club that play their home matches at Moss Rose. The stadium, which have the capacity of 5,911 people, was built back in 1891 and opened later that year. The Silkmen wear blue jerseys and white shorts when playing at home, whereas black and green are the club’s away colours.
Macclesfield Town have won Staffordshire Senior Cup twice (1992/93, 1995/96), and they have 21 Cheshire Senior Cup titles. The Silkmen registered their record Football League victory against Stockport County (2005/06), with the team rolling over the Hatters 6-0. As for the club’s biggest Football League defeat, they were beaten by West Ham United 8-0 in the EFL Cup round 3 in the 2018/2019 season.
The likes of Northwich Victoria and Altrincham are Macclesfield Town’s traditional rivals, while aforementioned Stockport County were their closest rivals during the Football League years. Their biggest rivals in League Two are Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra.
