Our football match prediction:
Bordeaux are running down a blind alley ahead of Tuesday’s football game against Saint-Etienne. Les Girondins are on a seven-game winless run in Ligue 1 and they suffered four defeats in previous five league fixtures. Bordeaux have been slipping down the standings week by week and, no doubt, situation at Stade Matmut-Atlantique is alarming ahead of the visit of les Verts. Saint-Etienne have been struggling in the national championship of late and they failed to win previous five games in the French top flight. Both sides are likely to go for a win in Tuesday’s clash and we predict fans will see a lively contest at Stade Matmut-Atlantique. Over 3.5 goals were scored in each of their previous three meetings and, taking everything into account, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. When the two teams met in Bordeaux last term les Girondins recorded a 3-2 win over Saint-Etienne.
Highlighted Player (Diego Contento):
Diego Contento is a German footballer of Italian descent. Contento, who was born in Munich on May 1, 1990, is well known for playing for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The pacey left-back won three Bundesliga trophies with the Allianz Arena outfit and in 2013 he lifted the Champions League trophy with FCB. Bayern Munich defeated fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the title game and that is considered the biggest success of Diego Contento’s career. After playing 49 games in the German top flight for the Bavarians, the defender moved to Bordeaux in 2014 and he has been playing for les Girondins ever since. Contento has established himself as a first-team regular at Bordeaux and he made 25 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign. The former Bayern Munich footballer played for Germany at youth level and he has two caps for the U17 team, while making four appearances for the U20 squad. Diego Contento’s preferred foot is left and he wears the No 3 shirt.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
