Our football match prediction:
Caen will be looking to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Montpellier when they host Stade Michel d’Ornano in their first home game of the season. Patrice Garande’s troops failed to impress in their opener, but it is well known that they produce much better performances in front of home fans. Croatia international Ivan Santini should lead the line for the hosts against Saint-Etienne and, no doubt, he is determined to open his goal-scoring account. Les Verts, on the other hand, did remarkably well to beat Nice in the opening game of the season, but defeating Caen on the road is easier said than done. Jonathan Bamba scored on his return to Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and he will be one of the men to watch in the away side. Anyhow, we predict that the two teams are going to share the spoils in Saturday’s football match.
Highligted Player (Stef Peeters):
Stef Peeters is a Belgian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ligue 1 side Caen. After making only five appearances for Racing Genk (2011-2015) he was loaned to Sparta Rotterdam in 2013. At the end of the 2013/2014 season he signed a loan deal with fellow Dutch club MVV Maastricht and in 2015 he signed a permanent contract with the club. In 2016 Stef Peeters joined Sint-Truiden and it has to be noted that he scored five goals in 39 appearances for the Belgian club. The midfielder then (2017) moved to France to sign a four-year deal with Caen and he is going to wear No. 8 on his shirt in the 2017/2018 season. The Belgian player was born on February 9, 1992 in Meeuwen-Gruitrode, but he has yet to earn a cap for the Belgium national football team. Peeters’ main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well. The left-footed footballer has a contract with Caen which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
