Our football match prediction:
Stade Gaston-Gerard will host Saturday’s football match between Dijon and Saint-Etienne. Despite taking the lead in Saturday’s football match against Caen, Dijon eventually suffered a 2-1 loss to the ten-man hosts and, as a result, they remained in the relegation zone in the Ligue 1 standings. Dijon are eager to get back on course, but they face a difficult task against Saint-Etienne, who have been in a fine form of late. Les Verts recorded three consecutive wins over the likes of Nice, Caen and Amiens at the start of the season, but following a 3-0 loss to PSG at Parc des Princes they played out a 1-1 draw with Angers in their last league fixture. Saint-Etienne are eyeing a place in European competitions and a win over Dijon could see them climb to top three in the Ligue 1 table. Jonathan Bamba, who has already netted two goals in the French top flight this season, will be the man to watch in the away team.
Highligted Player (Baptiste Reynet):
Baptiste Reynet is a goalkeeper who was born in Romans, France on October 28, 1990. After playing for the likes of Moursoise and Valence at youth level, he joined Martigue football academy in 2007. The 185-cm-tall shoot-stopper made 53 appearances for the Martigues first team and in 2011 he moved to Dijon. Baptiste Reynet was producing fine performances with the Mustards in the 2012/2013 Ligue 2 campaign and, as a result, Lorient chiefs decided to bring him to Stade du Moustoir. Reynet, though, played only six games for les Merlus in the French top flight as he was loaned back to Dijon after only one year at Lorient. The French goalkeeper impressed in the 2015/2016 Ligue 2 campaign and it has to be noted that he made 17 clean sheets in the process. Baptiste Reynet, who has established himself as a first-choice shoot-stopper at Dijon has a contract with the club which expired on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
