Our football match prediction:
Friday’s football match at Stade Pierre-Mauroy pits together Lille and Saint-Etienne. Following nine consecutive games without win, Lille did well to beat rock-bottom Metz on the road in their last league match and, no doubt, that gave les Dogues a confidence boost. Edgar Le is sidelined through suspension for the hosts, but seeing that Marcelo Bielsa’s men are desperate to escape the relegation zone, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the home side. Les Verts, on the other hand, suffered an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Lyon in the local derby and considering that they failed to find the net in previous three league fixtures, we predict that the visitors will return home empty-handed. Former Zenit midfielder Hernani misses the match through suspension and, taking everything into account, we are not tempted to put our money on the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Yassine Benzia):
Born in Saint-Aubin-les-Elbeuf, Yassine Benzia is an Algerian footballer who plays for Lille in Ligue 1. Benzia played for the likes of Saint-Aubin, Oissel, Caudebecais, Quevilly and Lyon during his youth career and he made his senior debut with les Gones on May 20, 2012 in a league game against Nice. After scoring four goals in 38 appearances in the French top flight for Lyon Yassine Benzia joined fellow Ligue 1 club Lille in 2015. Despite being born in France, Yassine Benzia decided to represent Algeria at senior level, but it has to be noted that he has nine caps for France U21 team (six goals). The prolific attacker played his first game for Algeria national football team on March 26, 2016 against Ethiopia. The right-footed footballer scored his first goal for Algeria in a 2-0 win over Seychelles in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. You should bear in mind that his contract with les Dogues expires on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
