Our football match prediction:
Saturday’s football game at Stade Saint-Symphorien pits together Metz and Dijon. Les Grenats suffered a 3-1 defeat to Saint-Etienne at the weekend, with the team extending their losing run in the national championship to three games. Metz head into the clash against Dijon with a severely-weakened squad and we do not believe that there is a big value in betting on the rock-bottom team. The Mustards, on the other hand, were on the verge of sharing the spoils with star-studded PSG at the weekend, but full-back Meunier eventually scored a late winner for the visitors. Dijon are eager to put an end to their five-game winless run in the league, but seeing that they will be without the likes of Tavares and Yambere against Metz, share of spoils appears on the horizon. You should bear in mind that the two teams played out a goalless draw at Stade Gaston-Gerard last season.
Highligted Player (Chris Philipps):
Born in Luxembourg City on March 8, 1994, Chris Philipps is a professional footballer who plays for Ligue 1 side Metz. Philipps made 39 appearances for Metz B before making his debut to the first team on May 23, 2013 in a 1-0 loss to Boulogne. The Luxembourg international signed a loan deal with SC Preusen Munster in 2015 and it has to be noted that he played 25 games for the German side in the league. Chris Philipps made his debut for Luxembourg national football team on February 29, 2012 in a 2-1 win over Macedonia. His main position is defensive midfield, but he is used as a centre-back as well. Chris Philipps, whose contract with Metz should expire in June 2018, made only 11 appearances for les Grenats in the 2016/2017 Ligue 2 campaign, but, no doubt, he helped the club secure promotion to the French top flight.
Highlighted Team (Dijon):
Founded in 1998, Dijon are a result of a merger between two local clubs. The Mustards played their first ever match in the Ligue 1 on August 7, 2011, with the team suffering a heavy 5-1 loss on their debut in the French top flight. After suffering relegation to Ligue 2 at the end of the 2011/2012 season, the club returned to the French elite division in 2016. The Mustards finished the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign in 16th place in the standings, only one point clear of the relegation zone. Dijon are well known for their red jerseys, while they wear white when playing on the road. The Mustards welcome their rivals at Stade Gaston Gerard, the venue which was both built and opened in 1934. In the 1998/1999 season the club recorded a historical 12-1 Coupe de France win over Mahault Baie and that is considered the club’s biggest ever win in a competitive match. Stephane Mangione, who made 181 appearances for the club, is regarded as one of the team’s famous players.
