Our football match prediction:
As expected, Metz suffered a 3-1 loss to Monaco at Stade Louis II at the weekend, but they should not be looking for points in matches against the title-chasing teams. Les Grenats remain in the ultimate position in the Ligue 1 standings, meaning that they face a must-win situation against Nice on Matchday 23. Metz made a very slow start to the season, but they have been showing signs of improvement of late and, in our opinion, they are definitely capable of matching les Aiglons at their Stade Saint-Symphorien. Nice, on the other hand, recorded a hard-fought win over Saint-Etienne, with Wylan Cyprien scoring the winner for the Allianz Riviera outfit. Mario Balotelli failed to impress in the victory over les Verts, but the former Premier League star is likely to lead the line for the visitors against Metz. Seeing that les Grenats are tough to beat at home, a close encounter is on the cards and we predict that the two teams are going to share the spoils in Saturday’s football match.
Highlighted Player (Chris Philipps):
Born in Luxembourg City on March 8, 1994, Chris Philipps is a professional footballer who plays for Ligue 1 side Metz. Philipps made 39 appearances for Metz B before making his debut to the first team on May 23, 2013 in a 1-0 loss to Boulogne. The Luxembourg international signed a loan deal with SC Preusen Munster in 2015 and it has to be noted that he played 25 games for the German side in the league. Chris Philipps made his debut for Luxembourg national football team on February 29, 2012 in a 2-1 win over Macedonia. His main position is defensive midfield, but he is used as a centre-back as well. Chris Philipps, whose contract with Metz should expire in June 2018, made only 11 appearances for les Grenats in the 2016/2017 Ligue 2 campaign, but, no doubt, he helped the club secure promotion to the French top flight.
Highlighted Team (OGC Nice):
Nice are a football club that participate in French Ligue 1. Les Aiglons welcome their opponents at Allianz Riviera and the club was founded on 9 July, 1904 by Marquis Massengy d’ Auzac. Nice won their first Ligue 1 trophy back in 1951 and eight years later they clinched their fourth and last domestic title. Speaking of the French Cup, les Aiglons won their third Coupe de France title in 1997. Allianz Riviera has been the home ground of the club since September, 2013 and it has to be noted that the construction of the venue cost €250 million. Nice play their home games in red and black shirts and black shorts, while the colour of their away kits is white. The Ligue 1 team booked their place in the Europa League group stages for the 2016/2017 season for the first time in the club’s history and they were drawn alongside Schalke 04, Salzburg and Krasnodar in Group I. However, they were beaten by Schalke in their Europa League opener in front of home fans.
