Our football match prediction:
Monaco will be aiming to put an end to their three-game losing run in all competitions when they welcome out-of-sorts Angers at their Stade Louis II. Les Rouges et Blancs dropped to fourth position in the standings, but they are only two points behind the Champions League berth ahead of Saturday’s football match against the relegation strugglers. Leonardo Jardim’s men failed to impress in a 1-0 loss to Nantes on Matchday 15, but seeing that they are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we are tempted to put our money on the title holders. Angers sit in bottom three in the Ligue 1 table ahead of the trip to Monaco and given their poor form, we predict the visitors will extend their winless run in the league to six games. In their last meeting in the French top flight Monaco recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Angers.
Highlighted Player (Joao Moutinho):
A versatile midfielder who can operate as a defensive or attacking midfielder, as well as on either flank, Moutinho is a Portugal international playing for AS Monaco. The experienced 30-year-old footballer started his career with Sporting, but moved to great rivals Porto in 2010. Having won 12 major titles between the two clubs combined, Moutinho moved to Monaco in 2013. A full Portugal international at the age of 18, Moutinho is a regular call-up since the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The 30-year-old was a part of Portugal’s historic success in France this summer when Fernando Santos men lifted their first-ever continental trophy. Despite being a first-team regular with his club AS Monaco, Moutinho has been regularly linked with a move to Serie A and was reportedly offered to Napoli and AC Milan during the summer of 2016. AS Roma have also expressed their interest in signing the versatile midfielder, but Monaco opted to stay with the club and help Monaco with their UEFA Champions League challenge.
Highlighted Team (Angers):
French Football Federation was founded in 1919, with French football club Angers being founded the same year. Les Scoistes returned to the French top flight at the end of the 2014/2015 season and they finished the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign in ninth place in the standings. Angers were having their ups and downs in the 2016/2017 season and, as a result, they finished 12th. Les Scoistes are well known for their black jerseys with white stripes, whilst the color of their away kits is white. Stade Raymond Kopa is the team’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 17.835. The venues was opened back in 1912 and the stadium’s record attendance is 22.989 (April 26, 1969 vs. Olympique Marseille). Speaking of the club’s most notable players, we have to mention Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Vladica Kovacevic, Claudiu Keseru, Paul Alo’o, Amar Rouai and Cedric Daury. It has to be noted that the 2017/2018 season will be their 24th in the French top flight.
