Our football match prediction:
Sunday’s football game at Stade Louis II pits together Monaco and Metz, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2017/2018 Ligue 1 campaign. Monaco aim to secure a top-four finish, whilst Metz are desperate to secure yet another top flight survival. Les Rouges et Blancs head into the match following a 2-2 draw with Nice and it has to be noted that they scored the equalizer in the dying minutes of the midweek game. Leonardo Jardim’s men aim to regain their spot in top three and we predict the title holders will go all guns blazing on Metz on Matchday 22. Les Grenats showed character in a 3-0 win over Saint-Etienne at the weekend, but they need to keep on improving their game if they are to avoid relegation to Ligue 2. Metz are tough to beat at home, but they are not regarded as good travelers and, taking everything into account, the relegation strugglers are likely to return home empty-handed.
Highlighted Player (Youri Tielemans):
Youri Tielemans is a product of Anderlecht football academy. The prolific midfielder was born on May 7, 1997 in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw and he is regarded as one of the most talented Belgian players. Tielemans signed his first professional contract with Anderlecht at the age of 16 and in 2013 he made his first-team debut for the club. The Belgian starlet came as a substitute in a 3-2 loss to Lokeren in the national championship. Youri Tielemans was making progress week by week and he quickly established himself as a first-team regular. The 176-cm-tall footballer scored 26 goals in 139 appearances in the league for Anderlecht and in 2017 he signed a five-year deal with Ligue 1 side Monaco. Tielemans joined les Rouges et Blancs for a fee of around €25 million. Speaking of his international career, the Monaco midfielder made his senior debut for Belgium in a 1-1 draw with Netherlands (9.9.2016.). He came as a substitute ten minutes before the final whistle, replacing Steven Defour.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference). However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club. Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
