Our football match prediction:
Nice impressed in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign, with the team booking their place in the Champions League qualifiers. Star-studded Italian side Napoli proved to be a big-catch for les Aiglons in the qualifiers for the elite competition and the Allianz Riviera outfit have yet to recover from the defeat. Nice have been struggling in the first half of the season and they are on a four-game losing run in the national championship ahead of Sunday’s football match against Dijon. Mario Balotelli and Co. are desperate to get back on course and we predict that they are going to prove their worth in the game against the fellow relegation-threatened team. Dijon have been having their ups and downs in the Ligue 1 this season and we would not be surprised if they return home empty-handed. In each of their last two meetings in the French elite division les Aiglons emerged triumphant.
Highlighted Player (Mario Balotelli):
Mario Balotelli is a controversial footballer who played for both Inter and Milan in the past. The Italian attacker, who was born on 12 August, 1990, started his senior career at Lumezzane and in 2007 he signed a contract with the Nerazzurri. After scoring 20 goals in 59 league appearances with Inter, he moved to Manchester City in 2010. Super Mario spent three seasons at the Etihad Stadium and he returned to Serie A in 2013, signing a deal with Inter’s fiercest rivals Milan this time out. Balotelli scored 26 goals in 43 league games with the Rossoneri, but in the summer of 2014 he signed for Liverpool for a fee of £16 million. The Italian attacker is well known for his powerful shoot, but he often struggles to control his volatile temper. Super Mario impressed at the 2012 European Championship finals and he helped Italy make it to the final of the tournament. However, Spain proved to be a big catch for the Azzurri in the title game.
Highlighted Team (Dijon):
Founded in 1998, Dijon are a result of a merger between two local clubs. The Mustards played their first ever match in the Ligue 1 on August 7, 2011, with the team suffering a heavy 5-1 loss on their debut in the French top flight. After suffering relegation to Ligue 2 at the end of the 2011/2012 season, the club returned to the French elite division in 2016. The Mustards finished the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign in 16th place in the standings, only one point clear of the relegation zone. Dijon are well known for their red jerseys, while they wear white when playing on the road. The Mustards welcome their rivals at Stade Gaston Gerard, the venue which was both built and opened in 1934. In the 1998/1999 season the club recorded a historical 12-1 Coupe de France win over Mahault Baie and that is considered the club’s biggest ever win in a competitive match. Stephane Mangione, who made 181 appearances for the club, is regarded as one of the team’s famous players.
