Our football match prediction:
Olympique Marseille will be aiming to build on back-to-back wins over Dijon and Nantes when they square off against Angers on day 3 of the new Ligue 1 campaign. The club chiefs did remarkably well to reinforce the squad in the summer transfer window and their decision is already proving fruitful. Rudi Garcia can’t count on injured star Dimitri Payet for Sunday’s football match against Angers, but he has a number of top-class players to choose from and we predict that the hosts will extend their winning run in the national championship. Angers kicked off the new season with a 2-2 draw against Bordeaux and they proved their worth in a 2-0 win over newcomers Angers at the weekend. However, they will have a much bigger fish to fry against Olympique Marseille and they are unlikely to spoil OM’s party at Stade Velodrome on Sunday afternoon.
Highlighted Player (Evra):
After playing for the likes of CO Les Ulis, CSF Bretigny and PSG during his youth career, Patrice Evra started playing for Marsala at senior level. The left-footed full back played for Monza in the 1999/2000 campaign and he returned to France in 2000. After making 40 league appearances for les Aiglons, he signed a contract with Monaco at the end of the 2005/2006 season. Evra played 120 league games for les Rouges et Blancs and on 3 January, 2006 he made probably the best decision of his career as he signed a deal with English giants Manchester United. The French footballer, who was born in Dakar, Senegal, clinched five Premier League trophies with the Red Devils, while winning the Champions League trophy in the 2007/2008 season. After spending nine season at Old Trafford, Evra moved to Italy in 2014 as he signed a contract with Juventus. He won his second Scudetto with Juve in the 2015/2016 season and, speaking of his international career, he played in the Euro 2016 final with France against Portugal, but les Tricolores failed to win the prestigious trophy.
Highlighted Team (Angers):
French Football Federation was founded in 1919, with French football club Angers being founded the same year. Les Scoistes returned to the French top flight at the end of the 2014/2015 season and they finished the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign in ninth place in the standings. Angers were having their ups and downs in the 2016/2017 season and, as a result, they finished 12th. Les Scoistes are well known for their black jerseys with white stripes, whilst the color of their away kits is white. Stade Raymond Kopa is the team’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 17.835. The venues was opened back in 1912 and the stadium’s record attendance is 22.989 (April 26, 1969 vs. Olympique Marseille). Speaking of the club’s most notable players, we have to mention Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Vladica Kovacevic, Claudiu Keseru, Paul Alo’o, Amar Rouai and Cedric Daury. It has to be noted that the 2017/2018 season will be their 24th in the French top flight.
