Our football match prediction:
Buoyed by a 2-1 win over Monaco in the French Super Cup Paris Saint Germain welcome Amiens at their Parc des Princes on the opening day of the season. Les Parisiens got their revenge on les Rouges et Blancs at the weekend and they are now on a quest to regain the domestic trophy. The club chiefs did well to keep hold of star players in the summer transfer window and it is no surprise PSG are seen as No. 1 favourites to win the Ligue 1 title. Dani Alves scored a wonder free-kick goal in the 2-1 win over Monaco and all eyes will be on the summer signing when PSG face Amiens in Saturday’s football match. The newcomers face an uphill task in the opening match of the season and they are unlikely to claim a major scalp in the “City of Lights”. In their first and only meeting in a competitive match PSG recorded a 1-0 win over Amiens (Coupe de France, 2008).
Highlighted Player (Angel di Maria):
Angel Di Maria is a professional footballer who played for Argentine side Rosario Central at the start of his senior career. The left-footed winger is very quick on the ball and he often makes life difficult for opposition defenders. After playing for Benfica between 2007 and 2010, the Argentine superstar signed for Real Madrid on 28 June, 2010 for a fee of €25 million + €11 million in bonuses. Despite impressing with los Blancos in the 2013/2014 La Liga campaign, the club chiefs decided to sell him to Manchester United on 26 August, 2014. Di Maria was playing below expectations at Old Trafford and he scored three goals in 27 league games for the Red Devils. In 2015 he moved to Paris Saint-Germain and he scored 10 goals in 29 league appearances for les Parisiens in the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign. In 2014 he won the Champions League trophy with Real Madrid and that is considered the biggest success of his career. Angel Di Maria was born in Rosario on 14 February, 1988.
Highlighted Team (Amiens):
Amiens are a French football club that compete in Ligue 1. Les Licornes (The Unicorns) finished the 2016/2017 Ligue 2 campaign in second place in the standings and, as a result, they secured promotion to the French top flight for the first time ever. Amiens got their job done on the final day of the season, with Emmanuel Bourgaud scoring a late winner in the game against Reims. The club was founded back in 1901 by a group of players from the Association du Lycee d’Amiens and nowadays les Licornes play their home games at Stade de La Licorne. The capacity of the venue is 12.097 and it was opened on July 24, 1999. Experienced midfielder Mathieu Bodmer joined the club in the summer of 2017 and he is considered one of the team’s best players. The experienced defender used to play for the likes of Lyon, Lille, and Paris Saint-Germain in the past. Amiens play their home games in white shirts and white shorts, while they wear black when playing on the road.
