Our football match prediction:
Paris Saint-Germain have been scoring goals for fun ever since Neymar joined the club. Les Parisiens rolled over Toulouse 6-2 at the weekend, with the Brazilian ace scoring a brace for the capital club. Unai Emery’s men aim to keep their 100% record in the 2017/2018 Ligue 1 campaign intact and we predict that they will go all guns blazing at Saint-Etienne when the two teams face each other at Parc des Princes in Friday’s football match. PSG are determined to regain the domestic trophy and they are widely expected to extend their winning run in the French top flight. Saint-Etienne, on the other hand, recorded a 3-0 win over Amiens at the weekend and it has to be noted that les Verts have yet to conceded a goal in the 2017/2018 Ligue 1 campaign. However, preventing star-studded PSG from scoring is easier said than done and we predict that the visitors will return home empty-handed.
Highlighted Player (Marco Verratti):
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is the creative force of the French champions and a world-class professional even though he is only 23. Deemed one of the most talented Italian players of the new generation, Marco Verratti began his career in Pescara, his home town club, from which he was directly transferred to PSG much to surprise of the general football community. Technically gifted playmaker was snapped by Les Parisiens in 2012 in front of Napoli, Roma and Juventus in a five-year deal worth €12 million. Marco Verratti has since gone to become a key member for the French champions already surpassing the 100-game mark for PSG. The 23-year-old playmaker is a player of great vision and awareness, very calm and composed on the ball. His passing skills are impressive often compared to Italian legend Andrea Pirlo’s. Despite his diminutive figure Marco Verratti is not afraid to get in duels and participate in defence duties which make him an all-rounder and great influence in every segment of the play.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
