Our football match prediction:
Stade Geoffroy-Guichard will host Sunday’s football game between Saint-Etienne and Angers. As expected, Les Verts suffered a heavy 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes in their last league fixture and it has to be noted that les Parisiens put an end to their three-game winning run in Ligue 1. Saint-Etienne aim to get back on course and they are seen as favourites on paper to win Sunday’s football game against Angers. Stephane Moulin’s charges have yet to suffer a loss in the French top flight this season, but they will have a big fish to fry against les Verts. Oscar Garcia’s men outplayed the likes of Nice and Amiens in previous two home games in the national championship and we predict that they are going to give fans yet another reason for celebration this weekend. Summer signing Jonathan Bamba, who played for Angers last season, is likely to pose a big threat for his former teammates.
Highlighted Player (Cheikh MBengue):
Born in Toulouse on 23 July, 1988, Cheikh M’Bengue started his youth career at FA Roques. In 1996 Toulouse scouts spotted him and he soon joined the French team. The 182-cm-tall left back made his Toulouse debut on 15 September, 2007 against Marseille, coming from the bench in the second half of the match. A week later he made his first start for les Pitchouns in a 2-0 loss to Saint Etienne. In 2013 he moved to Rennes and after spending three years at the club he joined Saint Etienne on 20 July, 2016 on a free transfer. His contract with les Verts expires on 30 June, 2019. Cheikh M’Bengue was born in Toulouse and as a result, he played for France U21 team in the past. However, seeing that his parents are of Senegalese descent, he decided to represent the Lions of Teranga at senior level. The Saint Etienne defender made his Senegal debut in June 2011.
Highlighted Team (Angers):
French Football Federation was founded in 1919, with French football club Angers being founded the same year. Les Scoistes returned to the French top flight at the end of the 2014/2015 season and they finished the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign in ninth place in the standings. Angers were having their ups and downs in the 2016/2017 season and, as a result, they finished 12th. Les Scoistes are well known for their black jerseys with white stripes, whilst the color of their away kits is white. Stade Raymond Kopa is the team’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 17.835. The venues was opened back in 1912 and the stadium’s record attendance is 22.989 (April 26, 1969 vs. Olympique Marseille). Speaking of the club’s most notable players, we have to mention Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Vladica Kovacevic, Claudiu Keseru, Paul Alo’o, Amar Rouai and Cedric Daury. It has to be noted that the 2017/2018 season will be their 24th in the French top flight.
