The Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in St Etienne will be the venue for this round 6 match between St Etienne and Caen. Both teams are in similar form, and both have six points in the table; in fact, they are next to each other – in 13th and 14th place. St Etienne is the more successful side of the two. They have played each other 25 times. St Etienne won 14 matches while Caen won nine. Only two matches had no winners. Last year, Saint Etienne finished 7th while Caen ended the season in 16th place. St Etienne won their opening match of this season and have then played out three draws before losing their last match, 4:0 to current Champions Paris Saint-Germain. They only managed to score a single goal in the last four matches. Caen started the season with a defeat to Paris Saint-Germain only to go undefeated for the next four games, with three draws and a win. Caen should edge this one.

Highlighted Player (Yann M Vila):

Formerly a blistering talent and one of the most promising youngsters in French football, Yann M’Vila ended up being a class book example of a player who made all the wrong choices. Having started his career at the age of six with ES Sains-Saint-Fussein, M’Villa was quick to turn heads of the big boys. He was given a chance to move through youth ranks at Rennes where he was given a professional debut in 2009 but it was not long after that his problematic lifestyle came back to haunt him.
Yann M’Villa got suspended from all national teams after an unauthorized night out while on U21 duty with France, a ban which left mark on his club career as well. Despite interest from the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham, M’Villa was sold to Rubin kazan in January 2013 which was the time his nomadic experience as a footballer began.
Spells as Inter Milan and Sunderland failed to help him get back to prominence and meet the early expectations, however. Currently a St Etienne player, M’Villa is hoping to re-establish himself back in his homeland.
Highlighted Team (Caen):

Caen are a French football club that compete in Ligue 1. Caen were founded in 1913 under the name of The Stade Malherbe Caennais and back then Stade de Venoix was the club’s home ground. Nowadays SMC play their home games at Stade Michel d’Ornano and the capacity of the venue is 20.453.
Caen finished the 1991/1992 Ligue 1 campaign in fifth position in the standings, 14 points behind champions Marseille and that is considered the club’s best result in the French top flight. In 2005 Caen made it to the Coupe de la Ligue final, but Strasbourg proved to be a big catch for Patrick Remy’s troops.
The Stade Michel d’Ornano outfit play their home games in red shirts with blue stripes (vertical), while gray and black are their away colours. Nicolas Seube is the club’s most capped player and it has to be noted that he made no less than 477 appearances for SMC during his spell with the club.
