Our football match prediction:
Despite being regarded as big underdogs in Sunday’s football match against Nice, Strasbourg did remarkably well to beat les Aiglons at Allianz Riviera. The newcomers are determined to secure the Ligue 1 survival, but le Racing need to keep on improving their game if they are to turn their dream into reality. Strasbourg have been impressive in front of goal of late and we predict that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s clash against Angers. Les Scoistes aim to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Toulouse, but seeing that they are not regarded as good travelers, we do not believe that there is a big value in betting on Stephane Moulin’s troops. It has been eight years since Strasbourg recorded their last win over Angers. The two teams faced each other in the Ligue 2 back then and it has to be noted that they meet for the first time ever in the French elite division this weekend.
Highlighted Player (Alexandre Oukidja):
Alexandre Oukidja is a French goalkeeper who began his professional career at Gueugnon. Nonetheless, he made no more than 1 appearance for the club and in 2006 he signed a contract with Ligue 1 club Lille. The shoot-stopper, who was born in Nevers (France) on July 19, 1988, though, did not make his first-team debut for les Dogues and it has to be noted that he played 84 games for Lille B. After ending his loan spells with Aviron Bayonnais and Royal Mouscron-Peruwelz respectively, Alexandre Oukidja joined Strasbourg in 2014 and, no doubt, he helped the club secure promotion to the French elite division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. Oukidja made no less than 12 clean sheets for le Racing in the 2016/2017 Ligue 2 campaign and it is more than obvious that he has established himself as a first-choice shoot-stopper at the club. It has to be noted that his contract with Strasbourg expires on June 30, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Angers):
French Football Federation was founded in 1919, with French football club Angers being founded the same year. Les Scoistes returned to the French top flight at the end of the 2014/2015 season and they finished the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign in ninth place in the standings. Angers were having their ups and downs in the 2016/2017 season and, as a result, they finished 12th. Les Scoistes are well known for their black jerseys with white stripes, whilst the color of their away kits is white. Stade Raymond Kopa is the team’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 17.835. The venues was opened back in 1912 and the stadium’s record attendance is 22.989 (April 26, 1969 vs. Olympique Marseille). Speaking of the club’s most notable players, we have to mention Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Vladica Kovacevic, Claudiu Keseru, Paul Alo’o, Amar Rouai and Cedric Daury. It has to be noted that the 2017/2018 season will be their 24th in the French top flight.
