Our football match prediction:
Toulouse will be looking to extend their winning run in the Ligue 1 to three games when they welcome Saint-Etienne at their Stadium Municipal on Matchday 11. Toulouse recorded back-to-back wins over Amiens and Angers in previous two league games and it has to be noted that they are eyeing their third consecutive clean sheet in the national championship. Les Pitchouns are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in Sunday’s football match against Saint-Etienne and a low-scoring affair appears on the horizon. Les Verts failed to impress in a 1-0 loss to Montpellier at the weekend and, no doubt, they want to give fans some cheer. The two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment and we predict that they are going to play out a draw at Stadium Municipal. You should bear in mind that they shared the spoils in three of their last five meetings in the French top flight.
Highligted Player (Issa Diop):
After spending two years at Balma SC, Issa Diop joined Toulouse football academy in 2006 and he was making progress year by year. The 194-cm-tall defender made seven appearances for Toulouse B in the 2014/2015 season and he made his Ligue 1 debut with les Pitchouns on November 28, 2015 against Nice. Issa Diop, who was born in Toulouse on January 9, 1997, scored his first ever goal in the French top flight in a 3-0 win over Troyes in December, 2015. Diop is a youth international for France at various levels, but seeing that his father Labysse Diop is of Senegal descent, the Toulouse footballer could represent les Lions de la Teranga at senior level. The Toulouse defender scored two goals for les Pitchouns in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign and he made no less than 30 appearances for the club in the process. Issa Diop has a contract with Toulouse which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
