Our football match prediction:
Troyes desperately needed a win against Metz at the weekend and they managed to get one. The Stade de l’Aube outfit managed to put an end to their four-game winless run in the Ligue 1 and you should know that they scored the winner against les Grenats with ten men on the field. Full-back Mathieu Deplagne was sent off in the 1-0 victory over Metz, meaning that coach Jean Louis Garcia can’t count on the former Montpellier man for Sunday’s football match against Saint-Etienne. Les Verts came from behind to share the spoils with Rennes in their last league fixture, but they dropped to fourth place in the standings. Saint-Etienne are eager to book their place in European competitions and we predict that Oscar Garcia’s men are going to prove their worth in Sunday’s clash against Troyes.
Highligted Player (Mamadou Samassa):
Mamadou Samassa is a goalkeeper who plays for Troyes in Ligue 1. Samassa was born in Montreuil, France on February 16, 1990 and he played for France U18, U19 and U20 teams in the past. However, thanks to his dual citizenship the 197-cm-tall shoot-stopper represents Mali at senior level and he made his debut for the Malian national team on January 20, 2013 in a 1-0 victory over Niger. Speaking of his club career, Mamadou Samassa played for youth teams of Collinee-Le Gouray and PEF Pioufragan before joining Guingamp in 2013. After playing 126 league games for the Guingamp first team, Samassa moved to Troyes in the summer of 2016. The Malian goalkeeper managed to keep 13 clean sheets in 37 appearances for Troyes in the 2016/2017 Ligue 2 campaign. It has to be noted that Mamadou Samassa won the 2013/2014 French Cup with Guingamp, with the Ligue 1 side beating Rennes in the title game. The Troyes shoot-stopper has a contract with the Stade de l’Aube outfit which expires on June 30, 2019.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
